PUC manager says
quality important too
The year 1974 will go down in the records of the Clinton
Public Utilities Commission as one of the most significant
years since it's inception on February 15, 1914.
Rapid changes in attitudes towards consumerism, energy
conservation and the depletion of non-renewable resources
have placed your Public Utilities Commission in the right
place at the right time,
Its objectives over the years of consumer satisfaction in
high standards of performance of equipment, and high levels
of quality installations are now the goals of all segments of
government and industry,
Electricity turns night into day, controls traffic, pumps
water, 'drives the machinery in mines and factories, brings
the wonders of communications and entertainment into your
homes, help teachers in classrooms, surgeons in operating
rooms, and farmers get their chores done.
On a per person basis, our use of electricity is 60 per cent
greater than the United States and second only to Norway.
Electricity is a part of our daily life. We have come to ex-
pect electricity to be available whenever and wherever and
in any quantity we want. We depend on electricity more than
many people realize. A whole generation of Canadians has
never had to face life without it.
Now we are moving to a nuclear-electric energy base, there
is ample electric energy for mankind, on a continuing basis.
Fortunately, the technology to do this is within our present
reach, and Ontario Hydro's, Douglas Point and Pickering
Plants, which use the Atomic Energy of Canada-CANDU
Reactor Design, are in successful operation.
Much of the strength of the Public Utilities Commission
lies in the ability of our Commission and the ToWn of Clin-
ton allies to communicate with the general consumers,
Without the confidence of the consumers, our overall objec-
tives Would not be -attained. R.
My thanks to all the people of Clinton. the Clinton Public
Utilities Commission for their efforts.
R.J. Boussey

fices of the Clinton PUC on
Park Lane.
The ceremonies will get un-
der way at 4:30 p,m: and will

have been lined up.
Electricity...
(continued from page 6A)
They chose a sight on East
Street in south east part of the
Town and were able to buy 3-
1000 KVA transformers for in-
stallation. The sub-station was
completed in August 1964,
providing the Town with ex-
cellent electricity resources.
Meanwhile, of course, other
improvements were being com-
pleted, including new cement
poles on the main streets with
fluorescent lighting, moving
them back several feet in order
to accommodate a new
sewerage system.
In 1967, R. J. Boussey was
made Manager of the Clinton
Public Utilities Commission.
He too, had a long connection
with electricity and is the
current Manager.
Thus, over a period of 50
years there have been only four
managers of the PUC. Each
met the emergencies of his time
and these ,will continue.
However, it is a tribute to the
stability of the administration
of the Commission that each
Manager sold his time long and
well and it is a sound in-
dication that Clinton can ex-
pect what it, wants—the best in
electrical service.
