Truck cuts
hydro pole
About $650 damage was
done on Tuesday morning
when a westbound Boyes Tran-
sport Truck slid off ice-slicked
Highway 8 near the Vanastra
lipid - and sliced ;off a hydra)
pole. No one 'was injured.
The tanker truck, according
to OPP Goderich Detachment
Constable Eric Gosse, was
bound for Clinton when the ac-
cident happened and the truck
crossed the eastbound lane and
ended in a deep ditch, on the
south side of the road. Driver of
the truck was Edward Emmer-
son of Clinton.
It was all ankles and bare hands last Friday afternppn as the Clinton and District Christian
school board battled the eiders, deacons and minister of the Clinton Christian Reformed
Church, The comedy match ended in a 11-6 victory for the School board. (News-Record

The Afternoon Unit of
Wesley-Willis United Church
met on Thursday March 21 in
the church parlOur with an at=
tendance of 18 members and
three' visitors.
The president, Mrs. Stewart,
welcomed everyone and opened
the meeting With a poein. "A
Blessing". A hymn was sung
followed by prayer. Mrs. N.
Holland. then presided for the
worship service, the theme of
which was "Worship and Ser-
vice". Scripture passages were
read by Mrs. Fred Reid and
Mrs. Ruth Mulholland. After
reading a poem and prayer the
roll call was answered with a
verse on 'Service'.
Mrs. Milton Steepe was guest
speaker and spoke on Viet Nam
- the country and its people etc.,
since it is the country where the
UCW's foster child lives. She
then gave ,his case history and
told something of him and his
family. They now can ap-
preciate the fact that this
•Missionary project helps not
only the child, but the whole
family as well, For the last
eight years the UCW have been
sponsoring a Korean child and
now they have been given this
Vietnamese child to, sponsor.
Mrs. Holland thanked the
speaker for all her 'informative
