This item is'really a follow-
up to one concerning Mrs.
Louise Holmes Copp which ap-
peared in this column last fall.
The following announcement
will be of interest to her many
friends in Clinton, —`The
marriage took place on Satur-
day, January 5, 1974 in La
Jolla, California of Mrs. Louise
Holmes Copp and Colonel John
Paul Merrill.'
Mrs, Copp was the former
Louise Holmes, who, as a girl,
lived in Clinton when her
father practised dentistry here.
She was a granddaughter of the
late William Doherty. While
living in Clinton, Miss Holmes
married Dr. E.F.F. Copp a
Clinton native who, as a
medical student, was privileged
to serve under Drs. Ranting
and Best, then at the Univer-
sity of Toronto.
Friends of the present Mrs.
Merrill may wish to send
congratulations. The news item
noted that following their
marriage, Col. and Mrs. Merrill
are residing at 1441 Muirlands
Drive, La Jolla, Calif. 92037.

Many worthy causes can
become very articulate in their
campaign for funds. Even 'in
our own homes some of us are
quite vociferous when we feel
we are justly in need of funds.
Consider for a moment a num-
ber of the less fortunate four-
footed members of society who
have been cast adrift in one,
form or another to seek food
and shelter as strays along the
wayside. The Ontario Humane
Society holds no official day
but solicits' your help in its
never-ceasing struggle to speak
for dumb animals. All
donations are tax deductible
and may be mailed to The On-
tario Humane Society, 696
Yonge Street, Toronto 5, Ont.

Please a correction. Our
"Town Hall" coupons have
drawn much response - one of
the first being a letter to the
editor received.by a concerned
fourteen-year-old - Bonnie Van
Riesen. Inadvertently we had
printed Miss Van Riesen's
name incorrectly.

Like the proverbial bad
penny your writer is back,--in
print. Much gratitude to Jim
Fitzgerald who stepped into the
.breach. Once in the hospital,
when the intravenous was
being inserted, yours truly
requested there be a certain
percentage of printer's ink ad-
ded to the drip just to keep up
the • flow until column time
again.
The following space is not
being stolen by "writer's
rights". Permission was
received to say here, rather
than elsewhere, how very much
all your messages and cards of
good wishes meant to the
writer during and after her
short. sojourn in Victoria
Hospital.
To this one final word in•
praise of all hospitals anywhere
and all within them who serve
their fellowmen. The following
are the words of Elizabeth
Barrett Browning who wrote:
I. think it frets .the saints in
heaven to see '
How many desolate creatures
on the earth
Have learnt the simple clues
of fellowship
And social comfort, in a
hospital.

Goderich Twp. has party
Holmesville School was the
scene of an old-fashioned com-
munity get together on the
evening of March 20, when
friends and neighbours
gathered to convey best wishes
to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Trick, Mr.
and Mrs. Ray Potter and
family, and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Tyndall and family, all of
whom have recently moved to a
new location.
' After progressive euchre and
crokinole, 'considerable talent
was displayed when 'musical
numbers were rendered by San-
dra and Ken Dale, piano and
guitar; and a trio, Debbie Wise,
Rosemary Bird and Barb Pot-
ter accompanied by Rosemary
on the guitar. Elmer Trick was
in his usual good form with
several selections on the piano.
Following a bountiful lunch
Illeen Potter led in a discussion
regarding 'Community Respon-
sibility'. It was decided that
the neighbours next to anyone
being honoured by a farewell
party should do the planning.
It was also decided to have
at least one 'Community
Family Party' a year. By
democratic procedure, it was
decided that the 11th and 14th
