Isabelle Stewart opened the meeting with a reading called "Lent" after which the Creed and The Lord's Prayer were recited. Eighteen members and four visitors were welcomed. Roll call was to be answered by a quality most admired in your husband, Some very in- teresting answers were given ranging from doing dishes, big earted, humorous, faithful, to o one like him (he says). Sandra Westerhout read the mutes of the previous eeting and they were declared orrect. Correspondence 'was eceived from Jean Vodden, drian Sa'verde and Mrs. anley from the Hospital uxiliary. Suzanne Vodden ave an account of the financial ituation. It was agreed to onate to the Hospital uxiliary instead of becoming embers. The annual Dessert uchre is to be held on April 7th. On March 21 the Hall oard , is sponsoring a card arty at the hall, Vera Gibbings has opened er home for the April meeting. On lunch and program are ucy and Lorna Ellis and Viola arguer. Helen Lyons in- troduced T,ois Jones who The Huron-Perth TBRD Association observed a Minute Silence in memory of,Dr. K.W. Hampson at its regular meeting last Wednesday evening, The meeting was chaired by the President, Rev, Garbutt. Smith. Routine reports were given by Mrs. Edith Fisher, Ralph Goren, Mrs. Frank Dodds. Mrs. Dodds reported that a suc- cessful ."Smoking Withdrawal" Course was held in the Red Cross Rooms. This opinion was based on a 22 per cent suc- bess rate plus 100 •per cent cut- down rate. She also reported that participants were vital capacity tested and as a result several persons are now atten- ding the Adult Conditioning Class conducted by Miss Jane O'Callahan, Physiotherapist which is held, every Monday .night and sponsored by the Rehabilitation Committee of the local .TBRD Association demonstrated the use of Bestline products. Phillis Tyndall closed the meeting with the singing of the Queen and Grace. A social hour followed. Three new members of the Executive Council of the Association were welcomed by the President; Mrs. S,haron Merkley, Francis Hicknell, and R, Butler. It was announced by the Education Committee Chair- man that a Youth Board had been formed to the Association and that the first pieject of the Youth Board would be the assembling of a float for the Mitchell Centennial in June. The theme of the float will be the rights of the non-smoker. Norman Wells has the only producing oilfield in the Canadian North. Discovered in 1920, with current reserves of about 45 million barrels, it produces about one million barrels a year to supply local fuel needs and much of the fuel for exploration. Leaders are Mrs., Brenda Thompson and Janice Schenk, All. nine members were present, Officers elected were: president, Joanne Schenk; vice, president, Brenda Scott; treasurer, Marie Nolan; press reporter, Shirley McClure; in charge of book covers, Doris McClure, Sharon Thompson, Lynn Hugill and Lori Hugill; achievement day posters, Brenda Thompson and Janice Schenk. They discussed taking a look at yourself and "What makes a girl attractive". The club name is "The Pretty Follies", The next meeting was held at Brenda Thomp- son's on Wednesday, March 20. Mrs, Bob Johnston of Grand Valley spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs, Jack Medd and Kerri. Sunday visitors at the same home were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Medd and Kim of Blyth and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Medd of 13th concession of Hullett. We would like to welcome to the community Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Wall and family from Medicine Hat, Alberta to the former Luther Sanders house which is owned by William Whyte. They moved in over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. John Thomp- son Sharon and Bob visited from Saturday till Tuesday in Ottawa with Mr, and Mrs. Barry Powley, Jason and Jonathan. Miss Margie Whyte of Toronto is spending her week's holidays with her mother, Mrs. W, L, Whyte and family, Mrs. John Whyte, Jeffrey, Andrea and Kerni of Lindsay, Paul VanderMolan of Oakville are also visiting this week at the Whyte home, Congratulations to Mr. \and Mrs, Paul Southgate on 'the birth of their daughter on Sun- day March 17th. in Seaforth Community Hospital. ' They also attended the ,wedding of their cousin, the iblden-McCarthy wedding held, in Toronto, The winidu0 of the Foresters Family Bowling was held on Sunday evening March 17th at Nobles Bowling Lanes in Seaforth. This year, bowling nights have been very suc- cessful with good attendance. Following bowling, about 45 returned to the Foresters Hall where they enjoyed a pancake supper with hot chocolate. Just a reminder to everyone in the area that the Family Dance will be held this Friday, March 22 in the hall.. Brownie News First and second Brownie packs of Clinton met on Tuesday March 12th at the public school, We opened our meeting with the Brownie ring. Then we each sang our groups song. Next, we split up in our groups to work on badges. One group of Brownies went to the post office today. When they came back we all sat down and had pow wow together, We saw what some Brownies were working on to earn more badges. We talked about Thinking Day that we had and things we planned to, do.
