Husbands discussed at Summerhill
The Summerhill Ladies Club
met for their March meeting at
Helen Lyons' home. Isabelle
Stewart opened the meeting
with a reading called "Lent"
after which the Creed and The
Lord's Prayer were recited.
Eighteen members and four
visitors were welcomed. Roll
call was to be answered by a
quality most admired in your
husband, Some very in-
teresting answers were given
ranging from doing dishes, big
earted, humorous, faithful, to
o one like him (he says).

Association observed a Minute
Silence in memory of,Dr. K.W.
Hampson at its regular meeting
last Wednesday evening, The
meeting was chaired by the
President, Rev, Garbutt. Smith.
Routine reports were given
by Mrs. Edith Fisher, Ralph
Goren, Mrs. Frank Dodds.
Mrs. Dodds reported that a suc-
cessful ."Smoking Withdrawal"
Course was held in the Red
Cross Rooms. This opinion
was based on a 22 per cent suc-
bess rate plus 100 •per cent cut-
down rate. She also reported
that participants were vital
capacity tested and as a result
several persons are now atten-
ding the Adult Conditioning
Class conducted by Miss Jane
O'Callahan, Physiotherapist
which is held, every Monday
.night and sponsored by the
Rehabilitation Committee of
the local .TBRD Association
demonstrated the use of
Bestline products.
Phillis Tyndall closed the
meeting with the singing of the
Queen and Grace. A social
hour followed.
Three new members of the
Executive Council of the
Association were welcomed by
the President; Mrs. S,haron
Merkley, Francis Hicknell, and
R, Butler.
It was announced by the
Education Committee Chair-
man that a Youth Board had
been formed to the Association
and that the first pieject of the
Youth Board would be the
assembling of a float for the
Mitchell Centennial in June.
The theme of the float will be
the rights of the non-smoker.
Norman Wells has the only
producing oilfield in the
Canadian North. Discovered in
1920, with current reserves of
about 45 million barrels, it
produces about one million
barrels a year to supply local
fuel needs and much of the fuel
for exploration.

Seaforth III, 4,41 C lub was held
at the home of Mrs. Brenda
Thompson on March 4th.
Leaders are Mrs., Brenda
Thompson and Janice Schenk,
All. nine members were present,
Officers elected were:
president, Joanne Schenk; vice,
president, Brenda Scott;
treasurer, Marie Nolan; press
reporter, Shirley McClure; in
charge of book covers, Doris
McClure, Sharon Thompson,
Lynn Hugill and Lori Hugill;
achievement day posters,
Brenda Thompson and Janice
Schenk.
They discussed taking a look
at yourself and "What makes a
girl attractive".
The club name is "The Pretty
Follies", The next meeting
was held at Brenda Thomp-
son's on Wednesday, March 20.

The winidu0 of the Foresters
Family Bowling was held on
Sunday evening March 17th at
Nobles Bowling Lanes in
Seaforth. This year, bowling
nights have been very suc-
cessful with good attendance.
Following bowling, about 45
returned to the Foresters Hall
where they enjoyed a pancake
supper with hot chocolate.

Brownie
News
First and second Brownie
packs of Clinton met on
Tuesday March 12th at the
public school,
We opened our meeting with
the Brownie ring. Then we
each sang our groups song.
Next, we split up in our groups
to work on badges.
One group of Brownies went
to the post office today. When
they came back we all sat down
and had pow wow together,
We saw what some Brownies
were working on to earn more
badges.
We talked about Thinking
Day that we had and things we
planned to, do. We went home
