the verge of being eliminated

Unfortunately the boys' ban-
tam team did not do as well as
the senior team'. The team
came fifth out of nine teams
with Owen Sound placing first;
team members were. Reg
Sullivan, Ken Hart, Jeff Cook,
Gary Armstrong and Dave
Williscraft. The boys' single
player was Gieg Skinner, who
finished behind Gary Martin of
Kincardine, who placed first in
this event.
The Bantam girls' team
placed sixth out of nine teams.
Team members were Lynn Ar-
mstrong, Erin Phillips,
Catherine Deichert, Karen
Hackenbrook and Marianne
Menzies. Ellen Hill of Kincar-
dine placed first in the girls'
singles. Mary Homes' was the
Clinton team girls' single
player.
N4,11 the Junior boys' final,
Clinton did relatively better
with the boys placing second
out of seven teams. Walkerton
took the first place honors.
Members of the boys' team were
Rick Tye, Brad Atkinson, John
Hart, Keith Howatt and Alex
Harrett. Collingwood captured
first place in the boys' single
final. Larry Howatt was the
boys' single player for Clinton,
The Junior girls' team, con-
sisting of Kelly Colquhoun,
Brenda Ball, Wendy , Welch,
Jane Symons, and Debbie Cook
bowled their way to sixth place
out of eight teams with the
Listowel team taking first
place. Listowel also grabbed
first place in the girls' single
final, Wendy Gibbings bowled
in the girls' single for Clinton.
The Clinton Bantams split
an exhibition series with the
Blyth bantams, losing and
winning 5-4. In the 3-4 loss,
Clinton goals were scored by
Robert Heard, Steve Jones and
Peter4.•Thoiripson with two
assists going to Bill 'Roy and
one assist to Robert Heat!.
In the 5-4 win by Cli4n, the
big guns for the night ,w'ere Bill
Roy and Steve. Campbell who
scored. two goals each, while
the single goal went to Paul
Galachink, Assisting on the
goals were Robert ,Heard with
three and Peter Thompson.with
one.
In a league game with
Zurich, Clinton went 'on a
scoring spree with Robert
Heard scoring fuur goals, Peter
Thompson with two and singles
going to Alan Taylor, John
McMahon, and Marvin Mer-
ner. Steve Jones came up with
three assists, Danny Proctor
with two and one each by
Robert Heard, Alan Taylor and
Paul Galachink.
In a well, played return.

Clinton Bantams came away
with a 4-2 win, Unassisted
goals were the order of the
game with one by Peter Thom.

Atom League
In the atom house league
played last Saturday, the Leafs
defeated the Bruins 4-2. Leaf
'scorers were Dave Saunder-
cock, Paul Stephenson, Brad
Forbes and Ian Peck. Bruins'
goals by Andy Flowers and Phil
Cornish.
In the second game, the
Canadians defeated the Blues
3-1. The Canadians' goals
were by Jim Fleming with two,
and Jeff Biggin with one. Blued
goals were by Tony Gibbings.
The tournament in Bayfield
will be played on Saturday
March 2nd. All players selected
to go are to be at the Clinton
arena at 8:15 a.m.
The Clinton Colts' hops 'for
a long end successful year were
erased , on Sunday afternoon

The loss was the third for the
Colts in four playoff encounters

Hullett Central Public
School continued their winning
ways in the girls' division of
the annual elementary school
volleyball tournament held on.
February 19, at Central Huron
Secondary School. The girls
retained the title for the second
year in a row.
The Hullett boys were not so
lucky. They managed to place
first but were tied with Huron
Centennial Public School of
Brucefield.
The competition -has six area
schools participating in the
event with each school entering
two teams, a boys and a girls.
The tournament started at 2
p.ni. in the afternoon and
lasted until 8 p.m. at night.
Each team played against
each other once, with the team
winning the best two out of
three finals claiming victory.
There were a total of 68
volleyball games in all.
Hullett Central girls' team
was the only one to go un-
defeated. The other teams lost
at least one set resulting in a
number of ties.
The final standings in the
boys' division were Huron Cen-
tennial and Hullett Central
tied for first, Holmesville
Public School came in third,
with Seaforth and Clinton tying
for fourth place and Blyth
Public School coming in sixth.

Central placing first, Huron
Centennial and Holmesville
tied for second, Blyth and Clin-

sonality owned by the partner-
ship of Whetham and Sadler
was second with Don Corbett
on the bike.
In the tenth race, Miss Belle
Bars, owned by Fred Fowler of
Londesboro was fourth with
Frank MacDonald of Clinton
driving.
MO"nday night at London, the
second race winner was Pebbles
Girl owned by Geo. Feagan of
Goderich and Ron Feagan
Dundas with Gerry Roebuck
driving. The mile was in 2:11
and the payoff was $13.40.

on a breakaway early in the'

Mitchell took a 6-2 lead after
the first period and Clinton's
inability to play hockey in the
last two periods Tuesday night
cost them the game,
From that point on, it was all
fun and games for Mitchell,
They scored two power play
goals and outmuseled Clinton
to the puck for the rest of the
game.
The refereeing was a bit
ridiculous at times with `Mit-
chell scoring two offside goals,
On Sunday afternoon in Mit-
ellen, Don Nicholson's goal at
19:38 of the second period
stood up as the' winning goal in
a 4.3 win.
On Friday night the Stangs
hung on for a 5-3 win with Dan
, Coiquhoun scoring a hat trick,
The last goal went into an open
net with 21 seconds•remaining.
Dave McClure and Steve Cook
picked up the other goals,
Last Wednesday night in
Lucan, the Stangs trounced the
Irish 6-1 with Dan Colquhoun
and, Randy Millar scoring
twice. Mike Anstett and 'Paul
Johnston scored the other Clin-
ton goals,
