BY-LAW. 3 ' ,•• OF 19 74 • • TAKE NOTICE that the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Township of Stanley has passed the following By-Law to authorize the stopping up and closing of part of the Roadway between Concessions 4 and 5, in the Township of Stanley, in the County of Huron. IVAN McOLYMONT The U,C.W. of Varna United Church catered to a banquet for the Brucefield Oddfellows and their wives on Wednesday night, Jan. 30, with 59 in atten- dance. The Oddfellows then proceeded to the Church Sanc- tuary for their program. Varna Orange Lodge held a bowling party last Friday night with 30 in attendance and were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Webster at their home afterwards. The reception of new Mem- bers and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be held in Varna United Church this coming Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McClynkont have left this con. munity to take up residence in Clinton. MRS, ISABELLA MORRIS Mrs. Isabella Morris, Ben' miller, died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on January 27. after a brief Illness, at age 87, She was born in. White.havert, England, the daughter .0f William and Elizabeth (Fisher) Hutchinson, She had been a resident, of Benmiller for the. past 18 years. -She was a mem- ber of Benmiller United Church. Her husband, William Morris died in 1969. She was also predeceased by two sons, William and Thomas, Pallbearers at the funeral were Robert Schultz, Brian Schultz, Gary Schultz, Tom Morris Jr„ Ed Morris Jr. 'and Paul Spain. ROSS T.1 FREEMAN Ross T,J. Freeman of Seaforth and formerly of Clin- ton died on February 2, 1974. He was 54. He was born in Hullett Township on June 29, 1919, a son of the late Robert and Sarah Freeman. He attended school in Hullett Twp. He is survived by two lsrothers, Wilfred Freeman of Walkerton and Roy Freeman of RR 3, Clinton. Funeral services were held from the Beattie Funeral Home on February 4 with Rev. L.S.' Lewis of Ontario Street United Church in charge, Burial was in Clinton cemetery. Pallbearers were Douglas Freeman, Harry Freeman, Clarence Freeman, Stewart Freeman, Edward Deeves and Cale Doucette. Mrs. Delphine Johnston Mrs. Delphine Johnston, a resident of Huronview, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on >January 28, She was 81. She was born in Goderich Township, the daughter of William and Louise (Hillock) Tichborne on September 25,1892. She was a lifelong resident of ,,Gotierich ,Township.. until moving to Huronview in 1970. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Ernest Johnston, in 1970. She was a member of Victoria St. United Church, She is .survived by a daughter, Mrs. Victor (Eleanor) Falconer, Goderich Township; two sons, Graham, Clinton and Rod, Goderich Township; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J. B. (Ruth) Orr, Goderich; and a brother, Arthur Tichborne, Goderich. The funeral was held on January 31 and conducted by Rev. Leonard Warr at McCallum Funeral Home. In- terment was in Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. Pallbearers were Kenneth Johnston, Jim Boyes, Kenneth Taylor, Stephen McGuire, John Falconer and Ronald Falconer. MAITLAND M. FALCONER Maitland McKee Falconer of 174 Fulton Street in Clinton passed away on January 29 in University Hospital in London after an illness of one month, He was 46. Mr. Falconer was born in Goderich Township on January 13, 1928, a son of Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Falconer. He attended schools in Porter's Hill, Goderich and Clinton. He worked as a trucker for Hanover-Argosy Transport of Clinton for 13 years and at the time of his death, he was cleaning supervisor at the Goderich Psychiatric Hospital, where he had been employed for the last 11 years. On June 2, 1901, he married the former Shirley Hattin in Clinton, She survives him. Mr, Falconer was a member of Wesley-Willis United Church and the Clinton Fish and Game Club. Besides his wife, he is sur- vived by two sons, Jeff and Neil, both at home; one brother Stanley of Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Betty) Switzer and Mrs. Marie MacAulay, both of Clinton; and his mother, Mrs. Luella Falconer of •Clinton. Funeral services were held on February 1, 1974 from the Ball Funeral Home with Rev. John Oeatreicher in charge. In- terment was ' in Clinton Cemetery. Pallbearers were six fellow workers, Jim Blake, Peter Bilstra, Carl Sowerby, Roy Fin- nigan, Gordon McGratten, all of Goderich and Louis Ayotte of Zurich. Flowerbearers were nephews Bob Cooper of Lapeer, Mich., Bob Falconer, Robert MacAulay and Jim Switzer, all of Clinton, - GEORGE N. RIVERS George Norman Rivers of Bayfield, passed away Wed- nesday, January 30, 1974 in Clinton Public Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was 81 years of age. The late Mr. Rivers was born in Adelaide Township, Lamb- ton County on August 8, 1892 to George and Annie Rivers and had resided in various cities before settling in Bayfield in 1962. He. received his education in Watford Public and High Schools and Wayne University, Detroit, Mich. Mr. Rivers served in the 1914 - 1918 World War in England and France with Motor Tran- sport. He transferred to the R.F.C. and later to the R.A.F. as a Flying Officer. He was married to the former Olive Monteith who survives him. The couple had resided in Stratford and London before retiring to Bayfield. Mr. Rivers was associa ted citted wVh tool aye tradeand" held mechanical supervisory positions in Detroit and Canadian factories, also , in London and Stratford, For 13 years he was a Maico Audiologist where he received several awards for his con- tributions for his service to the hard of hearing. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church Hayfield. Surviving him are four sons, Wilson N. of Barrie, Joe S. and Raymond IC. both 'of London and Robert Wallace of Strat- ford; 21 grandchildren, pipe greategrandchildren and one brother, W, Harry Rivers also survive, A son Clare predeceased him. The funeral was held from Trinity Anglican Church, Hayfield on Saturday Feb, 2, 1974 with the Rev. George Yournatoff officiating. Inter- ment was in the Hayfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were J,E. Hovey, Eric Earl both of Hayfield; G.N. Poulter, Ottawa; Lance Males, Peterborough; J.D. Palmer and J.I. Rivers both of London. ELLEN M. BUCHANAN At Huronview, Clinton .on February 2, 1974, Ellen Margaret Buchanan (Zuefle) formerly of St. Thomas and Hensall died in her 82nd year. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. The late Mrs. Buchanan rested at the Bonthron Funeral Chapel in Hensall until February 5, 1974 when a private funeral service was held with Rev. Don Beck officiating. Interment was in Bairds Cemetery, Brucefield. Pallbearers were Bill Bell, Ron Bell, Bob Bell and Max Zuefle. JESSIE M. SPEIR Jessie Margaret Speir (for- mer Collins) of RR 1, Varna passed away at Varna on Sun- day' February 3, 1974 in her 76th year. She is survived by one son Robert W. of RR 1, Varna; one brother Earl Collins of Clinton; and one sister Mrs. Charles Pilgrim of Varna. Four grand- children and three great grand- children also survive.
