continue this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Here two Semis

CHSS volleyballers win Wingham tourney

Last Thursday, Jan. 10, the
senior girls began their season
by winning an exhibition tour-
nament in Wingham, There
were eight teams competing.
They were Wingham, Seaforth,
Stratford Central, Exeter,
Goderich, Stratford North
Western, Mitchell and of course
Clinton.
It was a round robin tour-
nament. The girls began the
day by beating Seaforth two
games straight with scores 2-15,
5-15, Their next match was
against Exeter. It took them all
three games here, but finally
they emerged victorious.
The next match was by far
the most exciting. It was the
semi-final game against
Wingham. They won the first
two games, 6-15 and 11-15.
They kept their hopes alive in'
the final game by coming back'

score was 16-14.
The champiOnship was
played against Stratford Cen-
tral. CHSS won in two games
with scores of 15-3 and 15-13.

League, the All Stars lead the
way with 63 points, followed by
the Dillies with 58, the Bom-
bers with 52 and the Miracles
with 47. Helen Thompson had
the ladies' high single of 277,
while Madelon Mcillwain had
both the high triple of 639 and
the high average of 210, Doug
Talbot had both the men's high
single of 227 and the high triple
of 578, while Joe Koene had
the high average of 203,
There is still a tight race in
the Crown Junior League, with
only hind points separating the
first nine teams. The Aristocats
and the Cornet Pins are Curren-
tly tied for top spot with 51
each, followed closely by the
Strike Outs with 49, the Alley
Crackers with 45, the Head
Pins and the Super Strikers
with 44 each, the Spares with
43, and the Pin Spots and the
Alley Cats with 42 each. Next
come the Tigers with 38, the
Weeping Willows with 36 and
the Rolling Pins with 34. Erin
Phillips had both the bantam
girls' high single of 143 and the
high double of 277, while Jeff
Cook had the bantam boys'
high single of 223 and Rag
Sullivan had the high double of
364, Bob Hart had both the
junior boys' high single of 214

the Bob Cats with 29. Betty

of 275 and Phyllis Mounford
had the high triple of 680.

Mixed League, with a slim lead
Of one point. They have 58
points, followed by the nutrill

Goderich, Mitchell and Clin-
ton.
The girls played the best two
out of three games to beat
another team. Their first game
was against Seaforth. The
scores were 15-8, 1-15, and 5-15.
The second match was against
Exeter. The scores were 7-15
and 6-15. These wins put the
team into the semi-finals with
Wingham. The scores were 15-
12, 10-15, and 6-15.
This then led to the final
championship match, Stratford
Central and Clinton had a hard
game but the scores ended in
12-15, 15-6, and 15-5 in Strat-
ford's favor. Clinton's junior
girls had placed second in the
day's tournament.

league action
Due to the Bantam Tour.%
nament there were no Atom
house league games played last
Saturday. There will not be any
house league this week also.
However, a game has been
arranged , against the East Lon-
don Optiinists Atoms. The
following boys will be playing:

In order that the Atoms
make up some lost ice time, a
tournament has been arranged
for Minor Hockey Weekend. On
Friday evening, Jan 25, the
Bruins will play the Leafs at
5:15 p.m: At 6a5 p.m. the Blues
Will play the Canadians. The

day, Jan, 26 to decide the win-

On Thursday, Jan. 10, the
senior Redmen travelled to
Stratford for a league encoun-
ter against the Northwestern
Huskies. Central Huron had a
13-12 lead at quarter time but
were down 39-24 at the half. •
Northwestern took the play
away from the Redmen in the
second half and rolled on for
an 80-52 win, Larry Carter not-
ched 14 points for the Redmen.
Jim Amsing scored 12.
The Seniors attended a tour-
nament' on Saturday Jan. 12 at
St. Clair Secondary School in
Sarnia, In their first game Cen-
tral Huron faced St. Clair, This
