Betty Archambault read the minutes and the correspondence. Thank yous were received from Ball’s Cemetery and Hope Chapel Cemetery, for donations from the club, and from the Archambaults for serving lunch at their 60th anniversary. The roll call was answered with each member sharing somethingthey had done this summer. Each member donated $10 to theclub, instead of having a bake sale atthe Thresher Reunion. Due were alsopaid.Ila Cunningham gave the treasurer’s report. It was decided to donate to the Clinton, Goderich and Wingham hospitals for the telethon. A discussion was held regarding the two quilts that are nearly completed. Instead of donating one to the Breast Cancer sale in Stratford, as has been done for the last 10 years, the hope is to donate it to the cancer unit at Winghamhospital as a fundraiser forsomething to help the patients in theunit. The Walkerburn Club is alsoplanning to donate the puff quilt, made from squares of fabric donated by the members, to the Salvation Army, hoping they will find a needy home for it. The Club is now working on a crazy quilt from donated material and blocks are being worked on at home. Dorothy Schneider had an interesting program. She read tidbits from the book Windings whichdiscussed the history of the MaitlandRiver. Did you know that it is 10miles as the crow flies from Auburnto Goderich, but if you follow theriver it is 30 miles? She also had a contest on numbers. Betty served lunch which was pies supplied by Bernice Norman who was unable to attend the meeting. After a social half hour, all departed for home. Due to Thanksgiving, the next meeting will be held one week later than usual, on Oct. 20 at the home of Deanna Snell. PAGE 12. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2008.
