Rev. Gary Clark said that Margaret
Kai had been taken to hospital in
Wingham.
The call to worship and the prayer
of approach was followed by the
Gospel reading from Matthew 3: 13-
17.
Rev. Clark had the children gather
around the baptism font. He
explained to them how it is used for
baptism.
Brett Glousher carried the candle
down to Sunday school.
The scripture lesson was Jeremiah
8: 18-19 followed by the hymn,
When Jesus Comes to Be Baptized.

was, A Balm, not a Bomb.
The hymn, Spirit Divine Attend
Our Prayers was followed by the

Just under one month ago, The
Green Gallery closed its doors
for good. Its owner, Sheila
Rintoul plans to ride off into the
sunset, but not quite yet, as she’s
taken an apprentice under her
wing.
All custom framing services
available at The Green Gallery will
be available at The Gift Cupboard
from now on, where co-owner Janice
Peters is in the process of learning
the tricks of the trade from Rintoul.
Rintoul has 22 years of framing
experience under her belt and says
leaving the business for once and for
all was a very difficult
decision.
Rintoul is staying on at The Gift
Cupboard until Peters feels
comfortable enough on her own.
However, she says, she’s going to
miss the routine of coming into work
every day. She was originally going
to leave in June, then extended her
stay until the end of August, because
at the time, she wasn’t quite
ready.
In addition to her motivation to
keep her job going, she said
that once regular customers
heard she was retiring, they
rushed any framing jobs they
may have had on the back
burner so they could have
Rintoul frame it, rather than
anyone else. She insists that
was part of her decision to stay,
that once she considered retirement,
her workload increased
drastically.
Rintoul is planning on returning
to her first love, painting, once
she is fully-retired. Her art was
the whole reason she first got
into framing, consistently
producing during her years in
Blyth. But now, she says, she’ll
have some real time to
commit.
Initially, Rintoul took classes
in Toronto on framing so she
wouldn’t have to pay to frame
every one of her paintings. Over the
years her paintings were
popular items in the area, and as she
hopes her productivity will
go up now, she insists that people
will be able to get in touch with her
if they are interested in her new
works through The Gift
Cupboard.
The only service The Gift
Cupboard doesn’t plan on
continuing is stocking prints.
The Green Gallery stocked an
inventory of prints, but The
Gift Cupboard will focus
strictly on framing, as well as its
craft and gift items.
Rintoul is recently back
from British Columbia, so she
says there is no big retirement trip in
her future, although her husband has
always wanted to go to the Yukon,
she says.
Over the years, Rintoul said, she
grew to know more people in Blyth
than she does in Wingham where she
resides, and that she’ll miss all of
them.
