The Citizen, 2008-09-18, Page 20On Monday, the Green Party heldtheir nomination meeting for Huron-Bruce, electing Glen Smith of PortElgin for the job. With that, five candidates are inplace for October’s upcomingelection. Smith has a bachelor of political science and economics from the University of Toronto. He has spent his career on the sales and marketingside of the food service industry. Brussels-area resident, DaveJoslin is running for the ChristianHeritage Party.Joslin’s opinions fly in the face ofmany of the larger party’s plans, including the green shift plan proposed by the Liberals and the cap and trade plan proposed by the NDP. Dennis Valenta, an independentcandidate from Clinton, will also berunning for a seat for the secondtime in two years. Valenta’s main concern is familylaw. Concerned that family lawaffects youth crime, education, health care and the economy,Valenta is lobbying for a father’s rights in a divorce/separation system, that he says tends to favour mothers.Greg McClinchey represents theLiberals, Ben Lobb theConservatives and Tony McQuail the NDP.
