Included in council’s Aug. 18agenda was a letter from residentsBob and Gloria Elliott expressingtheir view that the centre is “non-compliant” with the township’s ownproperty standards bylaw. “TheHwy. 86 frontage of the communitycentre is embarrassing!” the writers state. “How can your council ask the community to step up to the platewhile you have ignored an obviouseyesore for so long?”Councillor Archie MacGowannoted that there was amisunderstanding here as to howmuch North Huron could do. “Withall due respect to the Elliotts, it needs to be brought to their attention that the property is county property.I agree with their point of view andmaybe it’s time to send a letter to thecounty.”MacGowan went on to say thatNorth Huron’s property at thecomplex “have been substantiallyimproved.” Clerk-administrator Kriss Snell also noted that the ditch at the road ispart of the stormwater managementplan and the grading cannot bechanged.PAGE 32.
