The fish fry crew was off to
Kincardine Legion on Friday
evening to serve up their speciality.
The crew was Glenn Bridge, George
Adams, Norm Dobson and Deb
Cann. Great job guys.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
saw 13 1/2 tables of players trying to
be winners. There was a tie for first
place with George and Gloria Love
and George and Deanna each
earning 79 points. The winners splitthe top prize money of first andsecond place. The third-place teamwas Stuart and Lois Chamney with73 points.
The not-so-lucky card players
were Helen Dobson and Mabel
Willis who received the low prize for
their 47 points. Lone-hand winners
were Vera Hesselwood and Ray
Gilders.
The two Branch Comrades who
faithfully run the euchres are Leona
McDonald and Marg Bennett. Since
Leona’s birthday was on Saturday
and Marg’s was on July 31, a special
treat and surprise was birthday cake
for all. The group sang Happy
Birthday to them and enjoyed cakewith their lunch. The Branch donated the use of thehall for the Ambassador of the Faircompetition held Saturday evening.
There were three girls vying for the
honour. Committee members started
arriving around 2 p.m. to the
beautifully decorated hall,
compliments of the talents of Leona
and Leanne Armstrong. The three
girls arrived and had their makeup
done by Alloette consultant, Donna
Bauer. Interviews, spending time
speaking with 2007 Ambassador
Sara Baker, then dinner provided by
Homecraft President Dona Knight
and her helpers filled the afternoon.
Nearly 50 family and friends
arrived for the evening’s speeches
and crowning of the 2008
Ambassador. Congratulations to
Kari Bell crowned Brussels Fall Fair
Ambassador. Congratulations to
Darby Alcorn, representing the
Brussels Legion and to Melinda
Dorsch for a job well done.
The Sunday night dance saw a
great crowd enjoy the music of theJohn Heaman Band. Although thecrowd is primarily of a single nature, there are plenty of married coupleswho join in for the love of music and
dancing. Everyone is welcome.
