The Citizen, 2008-05-08, Page 34A woman who dedicated her lifeto helping and caring for animals, will continue to do so in death. This Friday between 7-9 p.m. an
art show featuring the original
renderings of Tamara Hermeston
who perished in a fire early this year,
opens in Listowel. Proceeds from the
event, being held at the Christin
Dennis gallery, 135 Main St., willbenefit the Humane Society.Hermeston, 46, a resident of theGrey ward of Huron East had livedin the area for a number of years.Friend Kathy Hunt remembers her as a kind person, devoted to
animals.
“They were a huge part of her life.
Tamara had some strong priorities.
She made a home for and gave love
to the many little animal souls that
were her family.”Hermeston worked on farms in thearea, had been employed at a fitnesscentre and office in Listowel. Shewas an athlete who competed andwon marathon competitions. But she was also an artist, whose
favourite subjects were the things
she loved most. “She enjoyed
drawing and to supplement her
income she had Pet Portraits by
Tamara,” said Hunt, who was
pleased to discover that a number ofthe pencil drawings had not been lostin the fire. These were collected and havebeen reproduced as limited editiongiclée (fine art prints created from adigital source using ink-jet printing).
“People have also brought in
pictures that Tamara did for them to
be scanned. And if there are any
others out there that people would be
willing to have us scan that would be
appreciated.”Hermeston’s signature appears“somewhere in the animal’s fur”.Hunt said there are 15-20 prints setto display. The exhibit runs untilJune 5. “Her pictures portray the bond of
kindness and caring between
humans and animals that Tamara so
cherished. She would be thrilled that
her work is going to benefit
animals.”

Dave Campbell of the Auburn Lions, also known to his
fellow Lions as Tater, was appropriately on potato duty last
Saturday for the Lions’ breakfast in Auburn. The breakfast
was well-attended as dozens of cars lined the village’s
