Livestock for the week ending May
2 were 3,508 head of cattle, 352
lambs and goats. On Tuesday fed
steers and heifers sold $2 higher.
Choice steers and heifers sold $86
to $89 with sales to $100.50.
Second cut sold $83 to $86. Cows
sold $2 higher. On Thursday veal
sold $2 to $3 higher. Lambs, sheep
and goats sold steady. On Friday
calves and yearlings sold steady on
an active trade.
There were 440 steers on offer.

Several Huron County hospitals
submitted balanced budgets for the
2008/2009 and 2009/2010 years to
the South West Local Health
Integration Network (LHIN) in late
April, while some have received an
extension for the negotiation period.
Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance,
comprised of Clinton, Seaforth, St.
Marys and Stratford, Listowel
Wingham Healthcare Alliance and
Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital in Goderich all submitted
balanced budgets.
Also with balanced budgets were
the South Bruce Grey Health Centre,
South Huron Hospital Association,
London Health Sciences Centre,
Middlesex Hospital Alliance,
Hanover District Hospital,
Woodstock Private Hospital, St.
Joseph’s Health Care, Alexandra
Hospital in Ingersoll and St.
Thomas-Elgin General Hospital.
Extensions to the budget
negotiation period were granted to
Grey Bruce Health Services,
Middlesex Hospital Alliance,
Tillsonburg District Memorial
Hospital and Woodstock General
Hospital.
The budgets were reviewed just
before the beginning of May by the
LHIN board of directors and it marks
another step in a process that began
last fall when hospitals submitted the
first draft of their annual plans.
The LHIN works with the 16
hospitals to implements their annual
plans while introducing a process to
further assist the four hospitals that
have not yet balanced their budgets.
