Several Huron County hospitals submitted balanced budgets for the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 years to the South West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) in late April, while some have received an extension for the negotiation period. Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, comprised of Clinton, Seaforth, St. Marys and Stratford, Listowel Wingham Healthcare Alliance and Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich all submitted balanced budgets. Also with balanced budgets were the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, South Huron Hospital Association, London Health Sciences Centre, Middlesex Hospital Alliance, Hanover District Hospital, Woodstock Private Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Care, Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll and St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Extensions to the budget negotiation period were granted to Grey Bruce Health Services, Middlesex Hospital Alliance, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Woodstock General Hospital. The budgets were reviewed just before the beginning of May by the LHIN board of directors and it marks another step in a process that began last fall when hospitals submitted the first draft of their annual plans. The LHIN works with the 16 hospitals to implements their annual plans while introducing a process to further assist the four hospitals that have not yet balanced their budgets.
