The Palmerston Marlin 91s had
their kick-off weekend May 3 and 4
in Brantford.
Saturday, May 3 the team played
only four innings against Byron 1
because of a rain delay, but were
winning 8-6.
The rest of the games on
Saturdays were cancelled because of
the rainy weather.
On Sunday, May 4 games
resumed. The 91s lost against
Ancaster 1, 5-0. Later in the day
they won against Six Nations by a
score of 8-2.
Bull-y for them!

The Wingham Bulls Senior
hockey team wrapped up a rather
disappointing year with their
banquet/sponsor appreciation
evening on April 19.
Bulls president, Jason Goodall
expressed his appreciation to the
core group of dedicated players who
exhibited great tenacity and
sportsmanship throughout the
season.
During the evening, it was
announced that John Stewart would
not be returning as manager for the
2008/2009 season due to other
commitments. Stewart has been the
manager of the team for four years
and the Bulls executive expressed
their appreciation for his dedication
and commitment to the team during
those years.
Coach Larry Lane, who stepped
up this season to fill a vacancy in the
coaching staff, will not be returning
for another year.
Team president/coach, Jason
Goodall will also be stepping down
from both positions; he and Stewart
will remain on the executive. Both
Goodall and Stewart expressed that
they felt the team needed a new
infusion of talented people to lead
the team in the future.
In the interim, Jay Marston has
agreed to take over the
responsibilities of president of the
team. He will lead the search for a
new manager and coaching staff for
next season. If anyone is interested
in these positions, or in joining the
executive you are urged to contact
Marston at 519-357-2897.

Organizers met with the league
proposing the team. They were
unanimously approved by vote, said
McDonald.
Sponsorship came in the form of
Elliott Nixon Insurance Brokers.
“We’re very glad they supported us.
It’s expensive to get a team started,”
said McDonald.
The first home game for the Blyth
Barons is May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Most
of the home games are Friday
evenings with a couple of Sunday
afternoon ones thrown into the mix.
McDonald hopes everyone will
come out to support Blyth’s newest
team.
“We are pretty excited about
having this team in Blyth.”
