the Bainton Gallery for this show,
which begins with the official
opening at 6 pm, Thursday, May 8
and runs until May 30.
This annual show is an exciting
venue celebrating student creativity
and featuring the best works of
young people in Grades 9 – 12. The
Avon Maitland District School
Board encompasses F. E. Madill in
Wingham, Central Huron Secondary
in Clinton, Goderich District
Collegiate Institute, South Huron
District Secondary in Exeter,
Mitchell District Secondary, St.
Mary's District Collegiate and
Vocational Institute, Stratford
Central Secondary, Stratford
Northwestern Secondary and
Listowel District Secondary School.
The Huron Perth Catholic SchoolBoard is represented by works fromSt. Anne's Catholic Secondary inClinton and St. Michael’s CatholicSecondary School in Stratford. A wide range of artistictechniques will be featured
including mixed media, sculpture,
photography, drawing, painting,
printmaking, and digital illustration.
This is a wonderful opportunity to
see exciting art, full of youthful
energy and the promise of careers
yet to come.
The Student Show 2008 is
presented by the Blyth Festival Art
Gallery, sponsored by Goderich
Print Shop, and will officially open
in the Bainton Gallery (in the Blyth
Memorial Hall, next to the Festival
Box Office) on Thursday, May 8 at 6p.m. Awards of excellence will bepresented to deserving students.Three winners will receive a cashprize of $100 and their piece will bedisplayed at the Festival for the
duration of the 2008 season. All
teachers, students, parents and
members of the public are invited to
the reception to join in the festivities
and help open this exhibition.
Refreshments will be served.
The show will be available for
viewing during the Blyth Festival
box office hours and continues until
May 30.
Behind the mask
Mask, a digital photograph, is the work of Sean Berry, a
Grade 12 student at F.E. Madill Secondary School in
Wingham. It is one of dozens on display at the student art
exhibit, which opens the season for the Blyth Festival art
