Majestic Women’s Institute
casserole supper and card party on
March 6 at the Brussels Library with
over 50 people in attendance.
Share-the-wealth winners were
Isabel Armstrong and Doris
McClinchey.
Other prizes went to: ladies high,
Leanne Minielly, Kay Hesselwood
and Tina Empey; high man, Vera
Hesselwood; ladies’ low, Ann
Elliott; men’s low, Joan Jacobs and
Wilmer Glousher; lone hands, Marie
Glousher, June Robinson, Jim
Minielly.
Lucky tally winners were Elunid
McNair, Doris McClinchey, Norman
Dobson, Thelma Wilson, Lawrence
Plaetzer and Mary Davidson.
The next card party is on April 24
with proceeds to the Cancer Society.
Majestic WI held its meeting on
March 12 at the Brussels Library
with 10 members and one junior
guest attending. Ruth Bauer
presided.
A letter was read inviting a
member to attend the Huron-Perth
Agriculture and Water Festival in
Seaforth on April 9. The ACWW
church service is on April 27 and the
Huron-Perth craft and quilt show is
on April 5 at the Listowel Ag Hall.

Agriculture and Water Festival.
There was discussion on what the
branches had to supply for the
District annual that is to be held on
May 28 at the Brussels Presbyterian
Church. A meeting will be set up
with Walton branch to check out the
church as to what is needed. Both
branches will supply muffins.
Bev Craddock, Bonnie Lindsay,
Edna Pletch, Olivia McHardy, Marie
McCutcheon, Leona Armstrong and
Yvonne Knight volunteered to help
out at the craft show in Listowel on
April 5. Every member is to bring a
baked item.
Registration is needed to attend
the officers’ day at Bloomingdale on
April 19 by April 1.
Milton Heritage needs canning to
sell and volunteers to work on
weekends during the summer.
Kathy Bridge made a motion that
annual fees stay at $25 since the
Branch has been fundraising.
Huronlea is raising money to
purchase a gazebo for the west end
of the building for the residents.

The March meeting of theMelville Guild was held in thechurch parlour on Tuesday evening,
March 18 with 10 members present.
Alice Marks opened the meeting
with the call to worship and Dona
Knight led in prayer.
The hymn, What a Friend We
Have in Jesus was sung. The
scripture, Mark 15: 21-32 and Mark
16: 1-8 was read by all.
The topic Easter Worship for
Women in Today’s World was read
alternately by Mrs. Marks and Mrs.
Knight.
The hymn Jesus Christ is Risen
Today was sung. Mrs. Marks read a
story, Eastertime Generosity Gives
Family a Fresh Start.
Mrs. Knight led in prayer.
Everyone repeated the Mizpah
Benediction to close this part of the
meeting.
Mary Carr presided over the
business. She read a poem Easter
With Its Voice of Spring.
The minutes of the February
meeting were read and approved.
Leona Armstrong read the WMStreasurer’s reports. CathrineCampbell read the Guild treasurer’s
report.
The time, talent and treasure
auction will be held in Melville
Church on Friday, May 2 and
Saturday, May 3. There was a
discussion about making a quilt for
this auction.
The tickets were handed out for
the springtime supper to be held in
Melville Church on Sunday, April
27.
Mrs. Armstrong and Rev.
Campbell will be in charge of
devotions for the April meeting.
The roll call was answered with
each member telling what they
enjoy most about spring.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Marks
and Mrs. Knight.
