A "first" in combined com-
munity health services projects
will take place in Clinton next
week when members of the
Clinton Kinette Club and Beta
Sigma Phi Sorority will join
forces to conduct the annual
campaign for The Canadian
Arthritis and Rheumatism
Society from September 17 to n
inclusive,
In the past two years the two
organizations have alternated
in canvassing the community in
support of the Arthritis Control
program but in recognition of
the Society's 25th Anniversary
and the ever greater need for
funds it was felt that a more
thorough coverage of -the ,town
could be achieved by sharing
the campaign activities.
Demonstrating their
traditional philosophy "to help
others" members of the Kinette
Club and the Sorority realize
how important it is to this com-
munity to do what they can to
assist the Arthritis Society's
fight against arthritis for the
reason that it affects more of us
than any other disease . They

The General meeting of
Brucefield U.C.W. met Tuesday
afternoon in the meeting room
of the church. Unit H were in
charge of devotions. A Hymn
opened the meeting and Ruby
Triebner led in prayer. Mrs.
Lorne Wilson read a poem en-
titled "A Friend" .
Rosemary Packman had the
meditation and took the theme
from the book "Hey! I love
you," followed by all repeating
the Lord's Prayer. Ruby Trieb-
ner closed with a poem entitled
"Its all in the state of mind."
Joyce Wilson took the chair
and welcomed everyone to the
start of the fall term. Mary
Mustard acted as secretary in
the absence of Shirley
Hargraves. Roll call was an-
swered by ten members. Mar-
jory Broadfoot • read letters
from our foster child in the ab-
sence of Mary Haugh. A
motion was made to send a
donation to our foster child for
Christmas. It was agreed to in-
vite other churches to our
thankoffering October 14. The
Regional is to be held October
11 in Clinton, The bazaar was
planned for November 17 and it
was decided to send a donation
to camp Menesetung towards
the cost of winterizing the
dining hall.
Rosemary Packman gave a
very interesting talk on her
week spent at Five Oaks and
Joyce Wilson closed with
prayer.

Clinton Kinettes and Sorority to join for Arthritis canvass
feel that every citizen should be
given the opportunity to share
in the funds needed for patient-
care, research and education in
the rheumatic diseases, They
hope that by combining their
efforts this year they will be
accorded the full support and
cooperation of all citizens in
this important once-a-year
community nnder4aking,
Many sufferers from arthritis
in Clinton and district have
benefited, for several years,
from the professional home -
care servies provided at no
charge by the Society's
physiotherapists from the Lon-
don office. Each year, more
local victims of arthritis are
being referred to the specialized
diagnosis and treatment
facilities of the Rheumatic
Disease Unit located at Univer-
sity Hospital in London which
is co-sponsored by C.A.R.S,
Consideralbe and highly en-
couraging progress is being
made in the control and
management of arthritis
through the Society's nation-
wide research program.
The current and '..mediate
goal tf the Arthritis Society is
the BEST arthritis control
program in the world, It is now
on the threshold of that objec-
tive and it is to assist in the
complete and early attainment
of that goal that the Kinettes
and Sorority girls are devoting
their energies during "Arthritis
Week" in Clinton.
Spearheading the campaign
from the Kinette Club is Mrs,
Roxanne Drown, President and
Mrs. Sharon Carter who is
campaign chairman of the local
Zeta Omega Chapter of Beta
Phi Sigma Sorority.
