wedding of Dwayne Owen
Jacobson and Melanie Jane
Sprung.
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence Jacobson of
Red Rock and the bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Sprung RR2, Auburn. Canon
Garwood Russell performed
the double-ring ceremony and
the organist was Miss Ann
Legg. The soloist was Mrs.
Emerson Rodger, RR 2 Auburn
and she sang Our Wedding
Song and 0 Perfect Love.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride looked lovely
in a floor-length gown of white
embroidered nylon lace styled
on princess lines, scalloped
square neckline and long lily-
pointed sleeves. A jewelled
crown held her double veil of
embroidered silk illusion, She
carried a lace-covered white
Bible crested with red roses,
stephanotis with trailing rib-
bons holding red rose buds,
The matron of honor, Mrs.
Bruce Vincent of Preston, the
brile's, sister wore a floor-
length gown of swiss red and
white dot polyester with scoop
neckline with red ruffle frill,
empire waistline with ruffle
tier, long sleeves with matching
red long cuff and eight button
trim. She carried a bouquet of
red carnations and white mums
and red flowers in her hair.
The bridesmaids were Mrs.
Leon Sprung of Goderich; Mrs.
Alan Sprung of Red Rock,

They wore long gowns of red
swiss polyester with white dot
with white frills in similar
design as the matron of honor,
They carried nosegays of red
carnations, white mums and
white streamers and white
flowers in their hair.
The flowergirl was Miss Jana
Lynn Vincent of Preston, niece
of the bride, dressed similarly
to the matron of honor with a
circlet of flowers in her hair.
She carried a white umbrella
holding red and white car-
nations and mums,
The ringbearer was Master
Shawn Vincent of • Preston,
nephew of the bride.
The groomsman was Lindsay
Roy of Red Rock and the
ushers were David Pigeon,
Goderich, Steve Pernicky, Red
Rock and William Empey RR 2
Auburn.
Following the ceremony a
reception took place in the
Auburn Community Memorial
Hall where the bride's mother
assisted in receiving the guests
dressed in a floor-length gown
of apple-green silk polyester
with silver and white trim and
a white carnation corsage. She
was assisted by the groom's
mother who wore a floor-length
gown of blue crimplene, white
accessories and a pink gardenia
corsage.
The bride's grandmother,
Mrs. Rachel Sprung of Atwood
also assisted wearing a long
black skirt with a blue figured
silk top and a corsage of white
mums tinted with blue. The
hall was attractively decorated
with red and white streamers
flowers, rosettes and can-

Following a wedding trip to
Kincardine the couple will live
at RR 2 Auburn.

Rawdon, Que. Burketon
Station, Toronto, Woodstock,
Red Rock, Edgar, St.
Catharines, Atwood, Stratford,
Guelph, Ripley, Preston,
Oshawa, Bowmanville and
Goderich, Blyth and Auburn.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honored with a
bridal shower given by her
cousin, Miss Eleanor Sprung of
Goderich and Mrs. William
Empey assisted by Mrs. Nor-
man McClinchey, Mrs. Peter de
Groot and Mrs. Emerson
Rodger held a community
shower.
The family of Mr. and Mrs.
Nelson Patterson held an Open
House for their parents on the
occasion of their golden wed-
ding anniversary on September
1. An afternoon tea was held
from 2 to 4 p,m, when many
friends from far and near
called to express their best
wishes and congratulations.
The evening was spent at the
Auburn Community Memorial
Hall visiting and dancing.
Music was supplied through the
courtesy of Bill Manning of
Blyth.
A tribute was expressed
during the evening by Tom An-
derson of North Bay, a long
time friend of Mr. and Mrs,
Patterson. He spoke in regards
to their younger days, of school

graduated from the Mohawk
College of Applied Arts and
Technology in the two-year
civil engineering technician
program.
Mr. Haggitt, who is a
graduate of Goderich District
Collegiate Institue has accep-
ted a position with the traffic
service division of the thy of
Kitchener as a trafflt
engineering assistant in the
Department of Public Works.
days, baseball days playing,
coaching and managing of the
Auburn team which eventually
won the Ontario Champion-
ship.
Many lovely cards and gifts
were received from many
friends and relatives. Among
the good wishes received were
messages from Prime Minister
Pierre Elliott Trudeau of
Canada; telegrams from Gover-
nor General Roland Michener
and Mrs. Michener; Hon.
William Davis, premier of On-
tario; letters were received
from Robert Stanfield; Robert
Nixon; Bob McKinley, M.P. for
Huron; Ross Whicher, M.P.
Bruce; and Murray Gaunt,
M.P.P. Huron-Bruce.
A scroll was presented to the
bride and groom of 50 years by
Murray Gaunt on behalf of
Premier Davis and the Govern-
ment of Ontario to serve as a
constant reminder of this
memorable occasion.
Mr. and Mrs, Patterson were
married on September 5 1923
at the home of the bride's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Carter at Westfield, Mrs. Pat-
terson was the former Ulla
Carter. They resided on the
groom's farm on the 3rd line of
East Wawanosh where they
farmed successfully for many
years prior to moving to their
residence in Blyth in 1967.
They have two sons, William
who lives on the farm across
the road from where his
parenls' lived and Kenneth of
Blyth. One daughter Shirley,
Mrs. Darrell Wood lives in
Toronto. They have 13 grand-
children and one great grand-
child.
Guests were present from St.
Petersburg, Florida; North
Bay, Ottawa, Toronto, London,
Hamilton, Woodstock, Allan
Craig, Milverton and many
other surrounding towns and
villages,

Three interesting relay races
were held with almost everyone
involved Mrs. Jee4lunking was
captain of one team and Mrs.
Ted Hunking of the second
team, Mrs. Joe Hunking's team

and the soap relays.
The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Elliott
Lapp with Mrs. Lloyd McClin-
