The workshop and CLINTON N.i0WO,RECORD, '1111.T81141r:, JULY 26, 191$,-0 THOMSON REUNION The 34th annual Thomson reunion was held at the home of Bert and Audrey Vorsten- bosch at R.R. 1, Mitchell with 49 in attendance. After a delicious smorgasbord dinner, a short business meeting was held with Hannah Miller as President. It was decided to hold next year's picnic in Hensall Community Park the third Sunday in July. A new executive was chosen. They are: past president, Hannah Miller; president, Dorothy Chase; vice-president, Norm Stanlake; secretary- treasurer, Mary Parsons; lunch committee, Cecil and Joyce Pepper and Lloyd and Helen Thompson; sports committee, Bob and Glenda Cornish. A letter was read from Eleanor Thompson from Win- nepeg who was unable to at- tend but sent greetings to the clan. A complete line of sports was enjoyed under the leadership of Lloyd and Helen Thompson. Results are: races, 4 and un- der, Elizabeth Thompson, Tapia Cornish; boys 5-7, Bert Vorstenbosch Jr., Russell Hooey; girls 8 to 10, Jo-anne Pepper; boys 8to 10, Darrell V:orstgibelileh; enda fqpper; boys "11 and ricer, Harry Hooey; ladies lielc the slipper, Linda Miller; mens kick the slipper, Bert Vorsten- bosch; orange relay and tooth- pick and lifesaver relay, Cecil Pepper's team; ball relay, Joyce Pepper's team; mens find the spot, Russell Hooey; ladies find the spot, Hannah Miller. Relatives were present from Exeter, Guelph, London, Kitchener, Hensel! and Brucefield. PERSONALS Dr, and Mrs. Robert Mickle, London, spent Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle, and Charles Mickle, Hamilton spent a few days last week before leaving for the Caribbean where he will spend three weeks. Mrs. Laird Mickle and Mrs. Florence Joynt visited recently with the formers daughter Mrs. Ross MacMillan and family at Southeott Pines where they are holidaying for the month of July. OBITUARY Janet Maxwell Peck passed away in Milton District Hospital on July 10, 1973. She was the beloved wife of the late John Wilmer Peck, M.D.C,M., and mother of Mrs. Howard (Elaine) Kerr of 235 Linden. Avenue, Burlington, and the late felleneld Peck . and- *dear sister of Margaret Mealey of Vancouver. The funeral was held from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel, Hensall, July 12, 1973 with Rev. Don Beck officiating. Interment was in Bayfield Cemetery. FIGURE SKATING C,F.S.A. Figure Skating test day was held in Tillsonburg on Sunday, when Julie Mock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mock, was successful in passing her first figure (Junior Bronze) and two preliminary dances "The Canasta Tango" and "The Swing", while Aileen Klungel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Klungel passed her Dutch Waltz and preliminary figures. Both girls are members of the of the Zurich-Grand Bend Figure Skating Club. Wilmer Peck M.D.C.M. formerly of Hensel!. Misses Pauline and Troyann Bell, London spent the week- end with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell, 4-H meets daughter Margie Whyte, who wilt be returning home with her, Mr. and Mrs. John Thoinp, son, Sharon and Bob spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Robert Reynolds and familsiof Southfield, Michigan. Janet, Bob Nancy Jo Reynolds retur- ned home with the Thompson family for two weeks holidays. About 30 friend's, relatives and neighbours' gathered on Sunday evening, July 22nd, for a surprise shower to honour Mary Wammes at the home of her parents, Mr,,end Mrs, John Wammes. Mary, her mother and Cliff's mother, Mrs. Brin- dley of Riversdale, were presen- ted with corsages and seated in decorated chairs. A number of contests were conducted by Nellie Wammes, Corry Sanders and Tina Bos. Lucky winners were Mrs. Van Dylt, Joanne Wammes and Lia Hoggarth. Mary Merner read the ad- dress and Jennifer Sanders, Sherri Brindley and Sandy Mcllwain presented Mary with many useful gifts. She thanked everyone and lunch was served. Barry Gordon reported to the Council the plans made by the Recreation Committee at an earlier meeting. Final plans were made for a Fun Night to be held for the Gladwin County, Michigan delegates at Summerhill on July 19. Also a beach party is to be held on July 24 at Balls Grove. A committee was set up to plan a Demonstration Workshop in the near future for those planning demonstrations this year. Discussion of who is to be In- volved in the upcoming Recreation Workshop was held. It was decided to have a small scale workshop with Youth Council Reps and interested Youth Leaders on August 9.
