We have examined the 1972 financial statements of the Corporation of the Village of Bayfield and its local boards. Our examination included a general review of the accounting procedures and such tests of account- ing records and other supporting evidence as we considered necessary in the circumstances. In our opinion these financial statements present fairly the financial position of the Corporation of the Village of Bayfield and its local boards as at December 31, 1972 and the results of their operations for the year then ended, in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted for Ontario Municipalities, applied on a basis consistent with that of the preceding year. The amount of $4,770 shown as due from the Township of Stanley for the adjustments of assets and liabilities at the first day of January, 1965 has been written off in 1972 since no agreement had been reached in the amount due and no payment received as of the date of this report. 2. BASIS OF CONSOLIDATION- The Consolidated Balance Sheet reflects the assets and liabilities of the revenue fund and the capital fund of the municipality. Trust funds amounting to $238 have not been consolidated nor have the assets and liabilities of the Bayfield Community Centre. The guest book was in charge of Miss Shirley Bunking. Mrs., Joe flunking was chairman for the program which began with a sing-song led by Miss Nancy Anderson and a • assisted by Miss Brenda Ball, Mrs., Garth McClinchey had a contest to guess what the hidden articles were that were in an egg shell, Of the 55 ar- ticles, Mrs. Norman McDowell came the closest and won the prize, A piano solo was played by Linda Cunningham and a humorous reading Joe's wee little house was given by Miss Arva Ball. Corsages were pin- ned on the bride of next week by Miss Brenda Ball and on her mother, Mrs. Leonard Ar- chambault by Mrs. Thomas Cunningham. They were seated on the platform on decorated chairs. Miss Donna Cun- ningham played the piano solo, "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." An amusing mock wedding was presented by the following - Pianist - Donna Cunningham, bride Debbie Hunking, groom- Cathy Hunking, bridesmaid- Shirley Hunking, Best man- Vaughan Hunking, preacher- Joan Hunking, Bride's mother- Mrs. Elliott Lapp, Bride's Father-Mrs., Thomas Cun- ningham. An address of congratulations was read by Mrs. Walter Denys of Kippen and gifts were presented by Linda Cunningham,/ Debbie Cunningham, Sandra McClin- chey, Karen McClinchey, Darlene Hunking Marilyn Ar- chambault and Matilda Datema. Mrs. Joe Hunking placed a veil of ribbons on Miss Brenda's head. Miss Brenda thanked everyone for the gifts and invited them to see her gifts on the evening of May 30. Lunch was served. BRADLEY SHOWER Mrs. Bill Bradley of Goderich was hostess for a bridal shower at her home for Miss Brenda Archambault last Thursday evening. She enter- tained the nurses of the Goderich nursing home where the bride-to-be had been on the staff. An evening of entertainment of readings, etc. was enjoyed. Gifts were presented and the bride was assisted in opening the gifts by her sister, Miss Marilyn Archambault. Brenda thanked her friends and, a smorgasbord luncheon was enjoyed, Friends and neighbours on the 13 of Hullett gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Archambault to honour Miss Brenda Archam- bault prior to her •marriage. Mr. Gordon Howatt read an ad- dress and Mr. Martin Wilts Presented a gift. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Longman who had moved from the com- munity to make make their home in Blyth were also honoured when Mr. Joe Hunking read an address and a gift was presented by Mr. Mar- tin Wiltz. R. 3 Blyth exchanged wedding vows with Rudy Snyder of R R 5, Goderich, The bride is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs. William Patterson of R R 3 Goderich and the groom is the son of Mr, and Mrs. John Snyder, ft R 5 Goderich, Rev. Stanley McDonald of Lon- desboro officiated for the double-ring ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride looked lovely in a floor-length gown of white delustered satin fashioned on empire lines, bracelet sleeves and a cathedral train edged with bands of alencon lace, Her veil of cloud-white tulle illusion fell from a miniature crown of tiny pearls. Miss Cheryl Patterson of Toronto, sister of the bride was bridesmaid wearing a floor- length gown of blue polyster crepe empire lines and white accessories. She carried a bouquet of white shasta daisies interlaced with matching blue ribbons. The groomsman was Mr. Lloyd Josling of R R 1 Londesboro. Following the ceremony a reception followed in the Auburn Community Memorial hall where the bridal party received the guests assisted by the bride's mother who wore a floor-length gown of multi coloured pastel shades in polyster cerepi 4gold accessories and a white carnation corsage. She was assisted by the groom's mother who chose a floor-length gown of black polyster crepe, white collar and red sash and a corsage of white carnations. The hall was attractively decorated with pink and blue streamers. The bride's table was centred with a 3-tiered wedding cake trimmed with white roses and blue centres. The bride's travelling dress was a black dress with red and gold flower designs and gold accessories, They will reside on ft Ft 5 Goderich, Guests were present from Ottawa. Toronto, Grand Bobcaygen, St. Catharines, Oakville, Sarnia, Goderich, Clinton, Londesboro, Blyth and Auburn. ST. MARKS A.C,W, The May meeting of the St. Mark's Anglican Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. Donald Cartwright, Mrs. Cartwright opened the meeting and welcomed the members together with a visitor from Blyth A.C.W. The mem- bers were very pleased to have the new Rector, Rev. Fred Car- son, with them and each mem- ber introduced themselves. Mrs. Thomas Haggitt led in prayers. The scripture lesson was taken by Mrs, John Daer and a reading from The Huron News was given by Mrs. Elmer Trommer. The Mission theme- Canadian Youth was given by Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell. The hymn-0 God of Bethel was sung. The report of the previous meeting was read by secretary Mrs, John Daer, The financial statement was given by the treasurer, Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. BY MRS. H.F. BERRY The Brucefield United Church Women met in the church on Monday evening with Mrs. Mac Wilson and Mrs. Elgin Thompson presiding. Mrs. Wilson read a poem "Roses", and then led the prayer. She also gave the Meditation "God Cares for Us". Mrs. George Henderson played the piano for the hymns. Mrs. Thompson read the scrip- ture and led in prayer. The of- fering was received by Mrs. Thompson and dedicated by . Mrs: Wilson. 'A Mother's poem was read by Mrs. Wilson. The meeting was well attended since each member invited a guest and roll call was an- swered by a verse "Mother". A sunset meeting at Bayfield is to be held in June. Lunch was served by Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Thomp- son and Mrs. R. Scott. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. L. Treasure,, Craig and Michael of Van- couver visited with Mrs. Mary Haugh last week. Mr. and Mrs. J, Sisson, Niagara Falls, spent last week with Mrs. Mary Haugh and also visited with Mrs, Jones of Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. William Bur- dge and Darlene of Anger spent the weekend holiday with Mr. Burdge's father, Mr. Fred Bur- dge, and Rick. Mrs. S. Robinson of Ingersoll visited a few days with her brother Mr. Vic Hargreaves and family. A report pf the work accom- plished at the Rectory at Blyth by several members and discussed and letters were read from those who had been ill. and in the hospital, The roll call was answered by naming a Mother in the Bible and the travelling apron received a penny for each letter in Ascension Day. Mr. Rev. Carson closed. the meeting with prayer. A suc- cessful auction was held and Mrs. Cartwright served lunch.
