Jim Connolly left. president and. Larry Morrison were busy this week making last minute 'repairs to the unit which can produce up to 600 cubic feet of concrete a day, The plant will employ four men initially but Mr. Connolly said he hopes to build a cement block plant next year on the nine acre site and could em- ploy another dozen men. Ushers were David Reid, Allen Peel, Gary and Jim Buchanan. Mr. Sewers gave the call to worship and Scriptures were read by Marlene, Golda and Madelyn Sewers. The respon- sive prayer was led by Mrs. Sewers and Poem, "Little Rich Girl," was read by Joyce Sewers, The Junior choir, un- der the leadership of Mrs. Allan Bosman, sang "Oh hear our prayer for Mothers everywhere", and "Turn your Radio on". Rev. McDonald's message was, "Making our houses into Homes". The flowers placed in the church were in loving memory of Mrs. John Snell by her family and Mr. Walter Skimins, by his wife. Also a donition for tapes for the memorial in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bell by their family. BEREAN UNIT The Berean unit of the U.C.W. held their May meeting on Tuesday, May 8th in the church hall. The meeting opened with a reading "Will I Pray?" by the president, Mrs. Ena Howatt, followed by prayer and a hymn. The Scripture was read by Mrs. Joe Shaddick. Meditation was a reading on the theme "Almost a Christian" and prayer. The treasurer's report was given by treasurer, Mrs. E. Wood and the minutes of last meeting were read by the secretary, Mrs. B, Shobbrook, Mrs. Margaret Whyte reported the Westminster weekend is June 1, to 3, and Alma College August 19-22. Visitors day is August 21. It was requested that anyone wishing to hostess visiting ministers is to inform Harry Snell, Supply secretary, Mrs. H. During lunch, a get well card was signed by all for Mrs. Norman Alexander, a member who is in Clinton Hospital, INSTITUTE MEETING The Women's Institute held their May meeting on Wed- nesday night in the church hall. Mrs. Eric Anderson,' president, read a poem entitled, "Mother's Day". Roll call was answered by naming a man of the hour and what he is doing for his country. Minutes of the last meeting were read and Mrs. Clare Vin- cent Sr. thanked W,I. for flowers and cards. Five dollars was donated to "Pennies for Friend- ship". Mrs. Lloyd Pipe collec- ted membership dues to be paid for curator and Mrs. Robinson to Huronview Auxiliary. Mrs. Margaret Whyte, who spoke on her daughter Margie's work in the Philippines with "Crossroads". This is a com- pletely voluntary project, She also showed pictures of Margie and the children she works with, It was a very' interesting evening.
