BERT SHOBBROOK The Good'Friday service on Friday at 11 a.m. was well at- tended with special music by the choir and a message by Rev, McDonald on the Easter story. On Sunday morning the• church was filled for the Easter service with Lorne Flunking and Harry Snell greeting into the sanctuary, The ushers were Larry Carter, Stewart Glousher, Murray flunking and Ken Scanlon. Organist was Mrs. Harry Lear and Pianist, Mrs. Tom Allen, The senior choir sang Rejoice, Rejoice, this Easter Day and the Junior choir sang an Easter Carol under leader- ship of Mrs. Allan Rosman. Both choirs sang "Open the Gates. Rev, McDonald's message was the meaning of death. Lilies were placed in the church by Burns and Lon- desboro U.C.W.'s and flowers placed by Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Saundercock in honour of the marriage Of their daughter Lynn to Wayne Peck in Londes- boro church last Saturday. AIM WELL UNIT The Aimwell unit of the U.C.W. met April 16 in the church parlour. President Mary Peel gave the call to worship. Mary Peel gave meditation on the scripture. The roll call was answered by 14 members and one visitor. A bridal fashion show is to be held June 20th in the school. The meeting on May 22 will be a work meeting to prepare for the ham supper on the following day. Tickets for the ham supper were handed out. Tickets will be cut in half for children. Representatives on the kitchen committee are Betty Hulley, Norma Glousher and Addie Hunking. Large garbage cans are to be purchased for the kitchen. Gail Leafs piano recital will be June 4th. The program was given by Betty Hulley and Bernice Flunking. Betty Hulley showed slides on The church at work in Korea, Nepal, Hong Kong and India and Bernice Hunking read a message of Easter. Lunch was served by Vi Burns and Betty Miller. LADIES BOWLING BANQUET The Londesboro Ladies Bowling league held their end of season annual Banquet on Tuesday night April 17th. The W.J. served a hot turkey dinner to 32 bowlers. Following the dinner, trophies were presented to: high average, Nancy Roy 204, runner-up, Dorothy Carter, 193; high single, Brenda Radford 340, runner-up, Janet Hunking and Ramona Jamieson tied 336; high triple, Nancy Roy, 827, runner-up, Brenda Radford 748; most improved, Gerrie Kennedy runner-up, Brenda Radford. The champions were the Jump-N-Beens consisting of Captain Nancy Roy, Peggy Cameron, Ramona, Marjorie McNeil, Gerrie Kennedy, Jessie Tebbutt, Alma Tyndall (spare), The Jellybeens were second. PERSONALS Miss Edythe Beacom, Mrs, Laura Lyon Londesboro and Mrs. Albert Cardiff of Ethel spent the week-end visiting their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Russell McGee, Lansing Michigan, Mr, McGee is a patient in Lansing hospital following a car accident. They also visited their Aunt and cousin Ed Pearson in Owosso. Convener Mrs. Frank John- ston and her helpers collected $127.45 in the village in the past two weeks for the Canadian Cancer society. Mr. Jim MeEwing returned home on Friday April 20th having spent three weeks in Clinton hospital due to a back injury, due to a fall. Mrs. Earl Gaunt returned home on Tuesday, April 17th having spent the past three weeks in •Wingham hospital. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Bob Reid in the passing of her father, Mr. Allan Lightfoot of R.R, 5 Clinton. Miss Dorothy Little and her mother Mrs. Townsend retur- ned home on Thursday, having spent the winter in Florida. Mrs. Knox returned home last week haying spent the win- ter with her families. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Gaunt, Michael and Randy Hammer spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gaunt. Mr. Bill Hamilton returned home on Sunday morning from spending four weeks in Victoria Hospital London having had surgery, Mrs, David Fairservice and daughter Maureen of Dollard Des Ormeaux, Quebec spent Easter holiday, Thursday to Tuesday with Mrs, Myrtle Fair- service, All motored to Detroit on Saturday and spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Dave Mair, Mr, and Mrs. John Lawrie, Robbie and Jennifer of Kit- chener and Mr, and Mrs. Raymond Radford, London spent the Easter holidays with their parents, Mr, and Mrs, Bob Thompson. Miss Wendy ,Caldwell, in training at Toronto Western Hospital, spent the weekend with her parnts, Mr, and Mrs. Leonard Caldwell. Mr, and Mrs. Bob Chrysler of Chatham spent the weekend with her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tamblyn. Mr. Jeff Shaddick and Miss Lloy Shaddick of Kitchener spent the Easter holiday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick, Rev, McDonald, Mrs. Ted Fothergill, Mrs. Harry Tebbutt and Mr. Don Buchanan atten- ded the Huron District council of the Canadian Foresters banquet and Annual meeting held in Wallace Hall on Thur- sday evening. The Christian Education committee met on Tuesday evening in the church hall to make further plans for the christian Education groups and events in the congregation. Final plans were made for the Annual congregational Picnic and the open church service to be held in Seaforth Lions Park' on Sunday July 22 with Rev. Mr, Heckendorn of Kitchener as guest speaker. Further plans were also completed for Vacation church School which will be held the second full week of July. Hullett Central School filled last Wednesday night when the pupils put on their spring con cert which was much enjoyed by all. ANNUAL MEETING The Women's Institute held their annual meeting and in- stallation on Wednesday night, following catering to men's: VIEWS-RECORD, THURSDAY, APRIL 26, 1973 Londesboro Easter services enjoyed bowling banquet, President Mrs. Eric Anderson opened the meeting with a poem. Roll call was answered by "How many years have you been a W.I. member" and minutes of last meeting were read and the financial report given. Mrs. Gourley reported on the executive meeting held in St. Helens. The Huron west district meeting will be held in Dungannon on May 30th. Each W.I. was asked for two wedding dresses for a bridal pageant to be held at this meeting. Mrs. Gourley reported on Huron- view Auxiliary . The Blossom tea will be held May second Mrs. Howatt reported on Clinton Hospital Auxiliary meeting. Elaine Vincent sang two solos accompanying herself on the guitar. The President thanked all committees and members for help in the past year and annual reports were given. • Thank yous were received from Clinton Hospital Auxiliary for $25 received and thank you from Marjorie and Shannon Duizer. 4-H Achievement Day is May 12. COUPLES BOWLING 50 people attended the couples bowling league which held their final plug for this season on Sunday evening at Clinton Crown lanes, They returned to the church hall for lunch and presentation of awards: ladies high, Dorothy Tamblyn; men's high, Gordon Radford; ladies.' low, Joanne Lyon; men's low, Ted Flunking; hidden scores,Marion Snell and Murray Lyon; most head pins, Glen Carter; high couple on last two nights, Bruce and Nancy Roy.
