Farmers met on January 31st
at 8:30 p.m. in the OMAF office
at Clinton. The business was
conducted by president, Faye
Ribey. The minutes were read
by Gwen Bosrnan. Jim Nixon
gave the treasurer's report.

bership fee to the Huron

The Huron Trail Riders Sad-
dle Club, Dungannon, held
their first general meeting of
1973 on February 4th at
Carlow Hall. Election of of-
ficers for the new term was the
agenda of the afternoon.
The new executives of the
new year are: president, Art
Dickson, Port Albert; vice-
president, Lennus Yen,
linimesvilie; sec.-treas., Mrs.
Art Dickson. Board members
include: Paul DeKroon,
Dublin; Graham Sholdive,
Walton; Dr. Ray Flowers, Clin-
ton; Mrs. Norma Riley,
Seaforth; and Marybelle and
Cecil Cranston, St. Augustine.

executives, headed by Doug
Riley, as president.

A Huron resident for the, past
six years, Jack Riddell of Dash-
wood, announced Wednesday
morning he would be a can-
didate for the Liberal
Nomination in the forthcoming
Huron byelection.
A former teacher, Mr. Rid-
dell is 41, taught at Central
Huron and South Huron Secon-
dary School at Exeter. He is a
graduate of Guelph University
with a B.S.A. Following
graduation, he served with the
Dept. of Agriculture Extension
Branch. He is a former
Trustees Association and On- ,
tario Hydro.
Preliminaries were held last
week throughout the county,
Carol, with her topic, "The
Selection and Training of
Dogs" will compete in the zone
finals February 17 in Glencoe.
Runners-up were Paul Van
Esbroeck, RR 1, Hensall, a
Grade 8 pupil at the Precious
Blood Separate School, Exeter,
and Ellen VandenBygaart,
Grand Bend, a Grade 8 pupil at
Mount Carmel.
Each of the three received
bookends and wall plaques
donated by the Maple Leaf
Chapter, IODE, Goderich.
They were presented by Mrs.
John Stringer, Goderich, a past
regent of the chapter.
Mrs. J. W. Wallace,
Goderich, a trustee with the
Huron County board of
education, was convener.

farms a 200 acre beef operation
in Stephen Township and is
associated in the operation of
Hensall Livestock Sales,
A member of the Dashwood
United Church, Mr. Riddell is
married to the former Leone
Bryan of Granton. The Rid-
dells have five children.
His father was the late Keith
Riddell, for 36 years the
Agriculture Representative for
Middlesex County,
Mr. Riddell said in deciding
Mooney, Mount Carmel, and
Mrs. Ray Hughes, Goderich.

On Friday, February 2, a't
meeting of the Clinton Hor-
ticultural Society eyecutive
followed a pot luck dinner at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Har-
vey Howard.
Mrs. Don Pullen suggested
that the society might have a
flower show poster contest for
the children and it was decided
to have the August flower show
at Central Huron Secondary
School.
Committees were chosen for'
this year's activities which in-
clude the year book, the flower
shows, a booth at the Clinton
Spring Fair and the bus trip to
the flower show at the O'Keefe
Centre in Toronto on March 7.

longer heard.
Mr. Riddell was elected a
trustee of the Huron Board of
Education last December.

numbers, Mr, Aire,
VanDerEnde led the service,
which included the singing of
several of the residents'
favourites, with Rev. Buekema
in charge of devotions,
A group of ladies from the
Wesley Willis Church, Clinton,
along with other friends, held a
party in the North Wing dining
room on Wednesday afternoon,
honouring Miss Mae Davies on
her 90th birthday,
Mrs. Lawrence Edgar of At-
wood arranged a musical
program for Family Night, Rev,
Thomas introduced the num-
bers and gave a reading en-
titled "Albert and The Lion",
Mrs. Edgar provided the piano
accompaniment for the evening,
which included dance numbers
by Colleen Edgar, violin Seise-
tions by Lawrence Edgar, Viggo
and Paul Sorenson. Viggo
Sorenson, who is a native of
Denmark, played several-
Danish selections and his son,
Paul, entertained with a num-
ber of vocal solos, accom-
panying himself with an elec-
tric guitar. Mrs. Hull, who is
Mrs. Edgar's mother, thanked
the entertainers on behalf of
the residents.

County finals of an Oral Com-
munications Festival held in
Clinton Tuesday.
