Dr. Lawson of Timothy Eaton Memorial United Church, Toronto, officiated at the fun eral service held on Monday, October 17,.at the Miles Fun eral Chapel, Toronto, for Ida Gertrude Holmes, beloved wife of the late C. F. ’Wheaton. .In terment followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In her 9Qt'h year, Mrs. Wheaton was born in Clinton, the eldest of ten children born to Robert and Emma (Leaven worth) Holmes. Mr. Holmes was the former publisher of the Clinton New Era, and also a former Member of Parlia ment. A gifted musician, Mrs. 'Wheaton taught music in Clin ton, and later after she moved with her family to' Toronto, car ried on the same profession. Although not in the best of health for some years, Mrs. Wheaton suffered a fall a few weeks before her death which, was too much for her weakened system. Her death occurred at her home, 154'Forest Hill Rd., Toronto', on Saturday, ' October1 15. Predeceased by her husband, Charles Frederick: Wheaton, in 1927, Mrs. Wheaton is survived by one son, Charles F. Jr.,,and’ one daughter Margaret, and one step-daughter, Idla B.^Mrs. J. L. Tyrrell, all of Toronto, Also' surviving are two broth ers, Walter G. Holmes, jLon- dbn, and Harris1 B. Holme's, Is lington; and two sisters, Sadie A., Mirs. O. F. Adhms, and Helena J., Mrs, G. F. McKelvey, both of Weston. One sister, Mis's\E. Louise Holmes, prede ceased Mrs. Wheaton’on Sept ember 1 of .this year. Mrs. John A. Mrs. Martin Van Loion, RR 4, Seaforth, are the bride’s parents and Mr. and Mrs. John Lavis, Clinton, are the parents of the groom. Mrs. Alice Stiles, Seaforth presided at the organ>and ac companied the soloist Mrs, Ait- oheson, Seaforth, who ‘sang “Ave Maria”. Escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegantly simple sheath wedding gown of chan tilly lace and French crepe. The' chantilly lace bodice fea tured a batteau neckline, lily paint sleeves and an empire waist and the slim sheath skirt was of crepe. A watteau cathe dral, length train of chantilly lace created ’ back interest', A (duster of baby roses held her three-tiered French silk veil and she carried a crescent of orange delight roses wilth trail ing livy. Linda Lavis, Clinton, a cousin of the groom and Mary Van Loon, a sister of the bride were bridesmaids and two more sisters of the bride, Connie and .Dianne Van Loon, weirte flower-',' girls. , ‘ All bridal attendants wore floor-length gowns of gold peau de soie styled with Boston sleeves and round, necklines1 and matching pillbox headdresses completed their ensembles'. The maid of honor and the brides maid's , carried crescents .of bronze poms and the flower- girls carried bronze poms in little gold baskets. Martin Van Boon and Martin Verbene were altar boys 'and lighted the candles, Paul Lavis, Clinton,-was best 'man for his brother. Ushers wore Gary Van Loon, Seaforth, brother of the bride and Steven Cooke. Clinton. Pink and white streamers decorated Clinton Legion Hall where the wedding •dinner was served and an evening recep tion was enjoyed.' The bride's mother wore a three-piece knit suit of peacock blue with black .hat and accessories and a cor sage of pink delight roses. The groom’s mother chose a cran berry red three-piece suit trim med with a black, beaver collar, a cranberry red feather bait, black accessories and a corsage of white Steph anoifis. For travelling, the bride wore a cherry red three-piece suit, black accessories and a cor sage •of'" White carnations.
