Clinton News-Record, 1966-03-17, Page 8I 7 t Page 8-“ClintpnNews-Recprd—Thurs^March 17, 1966 Care Of Fire Engine Pays Off For Mechanic / BAYFIELD — Bayfield Fire Engine which has tong benefit ed from the careful ministra tions of Reg Francis repaid the compliment on Thursday last when Bayfield Garage almost fell prey to a sudden conflagra tion. A mad dash took Reg to the Fire Hall as the first wail of the siren sounded, Mrs. Francis, on duty at the village telephone exchange, re* ceived the call, was quickly relieved by another operator and dashed to the scene. <( On her arrival ait the front door of the garage she met a Tuckersmith telephone techni cian with a new dial phone in his hand. She remarked' “This is a funny time to be installing a new phone” and he immedi ately retoipted ‘‘Who’s installing it? I’m talking it quit, these things cost money!” However we are happy -to report that although formidable clouds of smoke billowed from the garage, damage was com paratively light. A milk truck and car belonging to Bud Tal bot were scorched by the flames and smoke damage in the garage was considerable. - ---------,---------Q----------V-------- Use Classified Ads.
