The enthusiastic group of As in past years, the Clinton Minor Hockey Hay Committee has arranged a full program for the enjoyment of the partici­ pating players and the .fans, ’S leaders active in Clinton Minor hockey activities, Jiaye worked hlard during the entire hockey season developing the hockey skills of our youngsters and providing them the oppor­ tunity to learn discipline, co­ operation and a respect for rules. The players enjoy fan support and the coaches, man­ agers and executives deserve it —so go to the arena this Friday and Saturday and support Min­ or Hockey Day. Kicking Off the activities on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. will be a Weewee hockey school with two teams from the Clin­ ton Kin League. NEW-VISTA TELEVISION Wins 3 Games Clinton Fish and Game Club Bantams won their three games prior to last nights tilt with the Zurich 'Bantams'. These wins1 almost assure Clinton coming out on top of the five- team group. On January 19 iiin a see-saw battle with JVIitchell the Clin­ ton crew finally emerged on top, winning 6-5. In the return match played on January 24, Clinton again defeated Mitchell 4-1, after a fast skating con­ test. On January 26 Clinton played 'the Zurich Bantams1 an easy 8-1 win. Next Games February 2—Seaforth at Clinton 11— 'Clinton at Hensail 12— 'Clinton at Seaforth for for the Hotel Clinton trophy. The feature game of the Fri­ day program will begin at 9 p.m. with Wingham Juveniles playing the Clinton’ Legion Ju­ veniles in a regular scheduled game. The Don, Yeo Memorial trophy will be awarded to the outstanding player in this game, The late Don Yeo was a mem­ ber of many Clinton minor sport teamsx Saturday’s full-day program gets underway sharp at 8 a.m. as the St. Sebastian Bantams of Dearborn take on the Adastral Park Bantams1. At 9:30 a.m. the Kin Club Peewee Consolation Gairhe will be played, followed’ by the first game of a total­ goal series for the Kin Peewee Championship. At 11:30 a.m. a banquet will, be 'held in Hotel Clinton to Which all visiting players are invited, along with visitors and local ladiults. Following the ban­ quet, hockey films will be shown and Dennis Raggin and other guest speakers will be heard. The final game for the Kin Peewee League Championship will be played at 2:00 p.m. for the Pickett and Campbell tro­ phy. At 3 p.m. the St. Sebastian Bantams will play their second game of the day as they take on1 the Clinton Fish and Game Bantams and players on both teams will compete for the three star .trophies. Carl Hem­ ingway. 4 Has OFA Support The marketing committee of the Ontario Federation of Agri­ culture has endorsed the pro­ posal made by the Bean Board. A statement issued on Tuesday this week by the OFA states that the committee is favour­ ably impressed with the plans. The OFA statement said that despite rumours to the con­ trary, the bean board intends to rebate the 1965 stabilization fund next year, unless a portion is required to subsidize exports. Brian Lan-, gille scored three goals' for the winners, with Bill Canteton and David Fawcett getting two each. Single goals were scored by Tom Mjurch, Mike Anstett and Wayne Cantelon. Scoring for the Maple Leafs were Brian Miller, . Wayne Hoy, Robbie Morrison, Jeff Falconer and Paul Crittenden. Playoffs The semi-final playoff games began on January 29 with the Red Wings defeating the Bruins 4-3, and the Rangers coming out ahead of the Maple Leafs by a 3-1 scone'. These were the first games: of total goals, two- game series; For the Red Wangs Doug Osborn picked up two counters, with the other going to Mark Jenkins and Barry Edgar. Bruins marksmen were Ricki Morrison, Keith Hankes arid Brian Edlgar. In the other contest Brian Langille scored twice and David Fawcett got one for the Rang- ers. Wayne Hoy picked, up the Maple Leaf’s lone goal. In the only game played on January 31, .the Red Wings de­ feated the Bruins 4-3, winning the semi-fiin'al round 8-6. Doug Osborn was the top man for the Wings scoring three goals and Mark Jenkins netted the other. The Bruins goals were split amongst Keith Harkes, Bruce Craig and,Gary Cummings. The Red Wings now advance to the finals’ and they will play the winner of the other series on Saturday morning at . 10:30 as part of the Minor Hockey Day program. -----------o----------- Feted Before Nurse Training A surprise party was held for Lynda MacDonald on Mon­ day, January 31, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Ranald MacDonald, 122 .East Street. The next game is sche­ duled for Saturday, February 12, in the Seaforth Arana. This is a two-game total goals series. Coach John Cooper reports that his team's leading scorer, Cann Colquhoun has been side­ lined, but expects1 he will be back in action in time for the playoffs. The Midgets 'have a good' re­ cord on the season’s play, win­ ning eight and losing two. Coach Cooper expects to call up some players from the Ban­ tam squad to round out his team and hopes to come up with a winning combination for the playoffs. BOWLING STANDINGS Mrs. Robert Homuth, presi­ dent of the Clinton Hospital Auxiliary presided for the meet­ ing on Tuesday, when1 decision was reached to hold a hat show on March 2, in hopes1 of repeat­ ing the great success experi­ enced at last year’s hat show. Mrs. Humphrys, a London milliner, will put on the show, and .two showings at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. during the afternoon. Mis. Douglas Bartliff will be social convener for the event. The Auxiliary will make Val­ entine favours for the patients’ trays in hospital on February 14. Vanishing parties are contin­ uing here and throughout the area, and the membership drive is progressing favourably under the convenership of Mirs. O. L. Engelstad. Lunch was served by Mrs. Harry Ball and Mrs. A. J. Mc­ Murray. Rec. Club In Regular Session J. Douglas Thorndike, chair­ man of the Clinton Recreational Committee chaired the meeting last Thursday evening, when Donald Kay was named direct­ or on the figure skating club. The committee feels that at least two representatives from the Rec. Committee should be on the New Arena Committee. The group Will contribute $75 to the Clinton Minor Hockey Day Committee,' and also adver­ tise in the program for day. Inquiry will be made having the senior citizens organize and become1 eligible for grants, under the recreation committee. Councillor Norman Livermore announced that the group would probably be using thb basement of the public lib­ rary, when council gets this space in shape for use.
