Hullett Township People Protest Reversion Of County Road 15 A petition from 20 ratepayers living on County Road 15 be­ tween Londesboro and the Base Line, was endorsed by Hullett Township Council at its inaug­ ural meeting in Londesboro on Tuesday. The petition asked that this section of road be retained in the county system-. A road needs study prepared in 1964 and published last year by the county, indicated a plan to have this section of road re­ vert back to the care of the township, The petition, as endorsed by Hullett council, will be forward­ ed to county council for con­ sideration. A $200 fire protection retain­ er was approved to the town of Clinton. Appointments to high school boards which are responsible for the secondary school edu­ cation of pupils in Hullett were .made: to Clinton District Col­ legiate Institute Board, Keith Tyndall, RR 4 Clinton; to Gode­ rich District Collegiate Insti­ tute Board, Ted East, RR 1 Auburn and to Seaforth High School Board, Oliver Anderson, RR 1 Seaforth. The amendment, requested by the Ontario Bean Growers’ Marketing Board, would provide the Board with authority to increase the licence, fee from Six to ten cents per cwt. on beans delivered by growers to dealers. The increase is design­ ed to provide additional mar­ keting facilities in tlie southern pant of Huron County, The marketing board pro­ poses to hse the funds to build additional bean processing and storage facilities, with a capac­ ity otf 150,000 cwt. at an esti­ mated cost of $400,000. It is planned to use the levy of 77 cents collected from the 1965 crop to build the faculties and make repayment from the in­ crease in licence fees. Growers will be able to ex­ press their opinion on February 8, at Hensail Legion Hall and Dashwood Community Centre, and on February 8, 9, 10 at the Agricultural office in .dinton. Each grower will be required to certify that he is a grower of beans and has not previously balloted on the question. Sixty- six and two-thirds per cent of the growers casting ballots are required1 to be in favour of the proposed 'amendment. BAYFIELD — First Bayfield Cub Pack met Monday evening, January 10, Due to the increase in number since the first meet-; ing 'in the fall the boys were re-assigned to form a third six. The red slix retained Wayne Eckert as1 sixer with Kelvin Merner promoted to seconder. The white six has as sixer Paul Payne who was promoted from seconder With David Ren­ ner promoted as seconder. Wiith the forming of the blue six, Richard Peterson was pro­ moted from- seconder to sixer and Patrick.Brandon was pro­ moted to seconder. Brian Makins- who was -form­ erly the sixer of the white six was given the position of senior sixer of the pack. During the evening some of the boys were passed in vari­ ous tests towards their stars. Brian Makins passed two tests towards his blue star and three towards his tawny star. Others' passing tests towards, blue stars were Ricky Penhale, Jeffrey Mayman 'and Patrick Brandon while Wayne Eckert passed on ■ a test for the tawny star. Brian Makins, the new senior sixer, took charge of the games period which, resulted in a tie between- .the red and white six­ es.
