Before moving to Parkhill a number of years ago Mr. and Mrs. Flynn reside south of Crediton. At the celebration they received some lovely gifts. The family consists of three daughters, Mrs. William Ware- ing and Mrs. Earl Allen, of Exe­ ter; Mrs. Earl Hamilton, of Ali­ sa Craig and Robt, of Parkhill. There are 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The bro­ thers and sisters of the honored couple along with some of the neighbours were present. Advancement in Years Convention Report Heard At Hurondale The high light of the Huron­ dale W.I. meeting for November was a report of the District An­ nual Convention in London given by Mrs. Robert Jeffrey. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. E. J. Pym, assisted by her committee consisting of Mrs. L. Rowcliffe, Mrs. A. Eas­ ton and Mrs. Westcott. An ex­ cellent response was made to roll call "One form of politeness I admire”. These responses were accompanied by a gift from each member for inmates of Huron County Home. As a means of raising a con­ tribution to the Hospital Fund it was arranged to hold a public euchre in Exeter the second week in January. Detailed arrange­ ments are to be made later. Mrs. Clarence Down was in charge of the program and gave the motto, "Many a good inten­ tion is wasted for the lack of attention”. Mrs, Harold Jeffrey read a poem and favoured with a piano solo, A very interesting demonstra­ tion on making home-made chocolates was given by Mrs. Passmore and each of the mem­ bers enjoyed a real treat. Combine egg, bananas, iard and bran. Add dry Ingredients and nuts to banana mixture, mixing only enough to moisten*dry in­ gredients. Pour into greased loaf pan (about 5”x9”) and bake in electric oven of 350 degrees 1 hour. Makes I loaf, Cinnamon Doughnuts 1% tbsps. shortening 14 cup sugar 1 egg separated 14®bp milk 2% cups cake flour 3 tbsps. baking powder 14 tsp. cinnamon % tsp. cloves 14 tsp. salt Cream the shortening, si and egg yolk together. Add al­ ternately the milk and half the flour, sifted with the o t h a r in­ gredients. Add the remaining COUTTS Christmas Cards flour slowly and beaten white last. Turn the dough on a lightly floured board pat to Vz mah thickness, with doughnut cutter or cut in strips and shape in figure eight. Fry in melted shortening heat­ ed to 375 degrees or until an inch cube of bread browus in 40 seconds. Turn doughnuts in 2 minutes; brown another minute. Drain, While warm sprinkle with sugar. Makes about 2% dozen. Allow to cool and add walnuts. Mix the oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, soda, salt and work in the butter with fin­ ger tips. Rut two-thirds of this mixture in a greased 9-inch cake pan. Spread date filling over t it and then sprinkle on the remain­ ing crumbs mix. Bake in pre­ heated oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut in squares and cool. THE QUESTION BOX MISS E.
