Last week we just happened to wander in there, minding our own business, when we were accosted by quite an irate young lady. She demanded an explanation to something we had written, etc,, etc., also a re­ traction of said article. As, it turned out we were not in the wrong; she had been reading the wrong issue ,of this sheet, She humbly apologized to us the next day. Aren’t women hard to figure out? Keep it up though, girls, we really get a big kick out of it, and we don’t take to heart anything you may say to us.* * * Wednesday night, the Rookies and Whizzers squared off and the result was a split in points. Mae Trites paced the Rookies with a triple of 567 (202), while for the Whizzers, Lorraine Brack banged out 562 (196). The Hot Dogs were too much for the Sorority and laced Beta Sigma Phi 3-1. Shirley Darling had herself a very good night’s trundling, .banging out 642 (25 2). Ada Dinney was top gal of the Sorority with 550 (2'0'2). The Jolly Eight also register­ ed a 3-1 win, when they trim­ med the Yarn Spinners. Helen ft Sears led the Eight in their win, running up 59 4 (2'61), while ,for the Yarn Spinners Lois Brintnell rolled 542 (20>3), Thursday Night Thursday night, the Lucky Strikes pulled a surprise and knocked off the Skunks 3-1. Vel­ ma Harvey paced the Strikes with 530 (200), while for the Skunks, Marion , Walters tossed 544 (196). The Housewives and Frisky Sisters met and each took two points. Phil Haworth trundled a good triple for the Frisky Sisters, 579 (245). Dot MoFarlane led the Housewives with 531 (219). Another saw-off occurred when the (Musketeers and •met, (191) to pace the while the best the could do was 509 (231) by June Grayer.ft * ■!< ft The top trundler in the ladies’ league is still Dot Hall, with a mark of 1'9'3. Men*s League Wednesday night, group teams started offs, Men The still with Pooley ;came through with a fine triple of 653 (283) for the Snipers, •while for the Repair Men, Cec. Vivian tossed one of his better triples, 648 (259). The Keglers turned on the power and swamped the Grand Bend lads 4-0 on alleys 3 and 4. .Ken Crowe rolled a terrific 794 (287) to easily lead the Keglers. Ray Boudreau also had a good triple for the Keglers with 685 (240). Glenn Desjar- dine came up with the best game for Grand Bend with 278. The Rural Rollers laced the Seedsmen 3-1 in the last match of the evening. Charlie Prout was the best man of .the Rollers with 543 (245), while for the Seedsmen, the best triple they could produce was Howie Holtz­ man’s 515 (202). “B” Group Standings A 1 1 1 •0 0 0 the “B” their play- and Repairwith the Snipers tangling on alleys 1 and 2. Page 3 sass® 2 for 25c w Underwear Centralia Flyers Split Two Tilts Centralia Flyers last week split their two home games win­ ning over Goderich 11-8 and dropping an 8-3 game to the un­ defeated Clinton Colts, Last Wednesday night the Centralia squad dumped Goderich for their second win. The Goderich Kinsmen poked in four goals in little better than seven minutes in the first stanza to take a comfortable lead, However, .before the period was over the "Flyers were only one behind and early in the second overtook their rivals. Goderich tied the score again at the 14:29 mark only to have Centralia go in front again in less than minute of play. From there the Flyers were in command of the play scoring four goals with­ out a reply from the visitors. Cook formed Flyers caught was the single marksman. Bis­ sett, Newcombe and Faulkner each scored two for the losers. Grand Bend .. * * Friday night, Tanks squared off In ed to be the most games of the night, came out of the tussle with 3 points to the Tanks’ one. On the total score, the Dukes won by one pin, 2834 to 2833. Ray Hig­ gins rolled 589 (236) to lead the Dukes, while Harold Bush paced the Tanks .With 613 (222). The Mighty Mice showed their strength when they blanked the Tigers 4-0’. Ken Cudmore rolled 626 (247) to head the Mice, while for the Tigers, Jack Witherspoon tossed 642 (262). The Not Quites hammered the Canners 4-0 in the last set of the. evening. Led by Elmer Zimmer­ man, who seems to have found the range, the Cahners didn’t have a chance. Elmer tossed ‘670, with a single of 305. That single score is the highest registered aftei' the first week of the play­ offs. In the last set of the evening, the Erks were too much for the Big Six and swamped the men of Frayne, 4-0. These games were fairly close, but the Air­ force lads just had too much steam for the .Six.
