Mr. Lawson was a former resi­ dent of 'Stephen township. He spent some years in London and later lived in Lucan where Mrs. Lawson predeceased him , last spring.- He is survived by a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Cameron Lutz (Reta) and Bruce of London, John of Clandeboye, one brother, James Lawson, of Exeter, trhee sisters, Mrs. F. Plans were made home baking to be urday, January 14. Mrs. Lloyd Lamport presided for the program consisting of the singing of several carols, a Christmas story by Mi's. A. Wein, solos by Mrs. Robbins, a mono­ logue by Mrs. Leslie and piano duet by Mrs. F. W. Morlock and Mrs. E. M. Fahrner. Pupils Present Concerts 'Christmas concerts were held in the two local churches. In the United Church on Tues­ day evening of last .week, a large crowd enjoyed* a sumptuous sup­ per which was followed by a program presented by members of the Sunday School. The recita­ tions, songs and exercises by the smaller children were greatly enjoyed, as were the numbers given by the older members. The program was very fittingly ■brought to a close with a panto­ mine “Silent Night”, presented by Miss Rosalie Mack. Gifts and treats were distributed by Santa. A very fine program was -pre­ sented in the ‘Evangelical U.B. Mr, and visited cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Bannerman last week. Horticultural Society Annual Meeting The annual meeting Horticultural Society was held in the basement of the United Church. Tables were set for 20 people, The convenors were Mrs. James Willis and Mrs. E. Hum­ phreys. After the dinner, games were played and a short meeting held. second comical dialogue, entitled, “A Few Friends for Dinner”. A couple of quaint folk dances by the primary classes were fol- * lowed by a recitation by Gordon Smith and a beautifully enacted pantomine, ‘2 Z2JB _L_ background for which was sung toy Grant Wildfong. The primary classes again made their appear­ ance in singing some Christmas songs. ’ A group of “negroes” gave a dialogue, “The Meeting of the Minstrels”, followed by the school singing “My Two Front Teeth”. Three one-act comedies were presented by the young people of the section. After the first play, “Who Gets the Car To­ night”, Alice Miller did “The Horse,” which was followed by “The Party Line”.
