third great-grandchildren in 2009.
After the call to worship which was
read responsively, the song of
worship, For the Beauty of the Earth
was sang.
Jenna Hopper, assisted by Rev.
Tom, lit the Christ Candle. The senior
choir, accompanied by Elizabeth
Procter, sang. The children gathered
in the front pews for story time with
Rev. Tom. He asked them how they
liked their spaghetti. He made
comparisons of uncooked and cooked
spaghetti to homes built in sand or onrock. People need to listen to Jesusand follow Jesus to build a home onrock. The song for the journey was,Faith, While Trees are Still In. Thechildren adjourned for Sundayschool.
Dorothy Coultes read scripture,
Genesis 6: 9-14, 17-19, 22. Psalm 46
was read responsively.
After the prayers of God’s people,
the song of the church was The
Church of Christ in Every Age.
The gospel reading was Matthew 7:
21-29. It tells of the wise man who
listened to Jesus and built his house
on rock. The rain poured down, the
rivers overflowed and the wind blew
hard against that house, but it did not
fall because it was built on rock.
In Genesis 6 God told Noah to
build an ark and go into it with his
wife and their three sons and wives
and two of every animal and bird.
Noah did everything that God
commanded. He lived in fellowship
with God. God flooded the earth todestroy every living thing.People don’t know what God’splans are for them. They need to givethe next generation a start so they canfinish on dry ground.Jesus is a shelter keeping people
safe in a time of storms. God was the
captain of the ship.
Allen Walker and Adel Dodds took
up the offering.
The closing hymn was,All Earth is
Waiting.
