Hockey League Tuesday evening,
Nov. 17, the Saugeen Maitland
Lightning AA Midgets beat the
Stratford Aces 2-1.
Sarah Gossell, Tiverton, had the
game winner, assisted by Laken
Smith, Monkton.
The first Lightning tally was
scored by Lindsey Ceasar, assisted
by Ona Mezenberg, both from Owen
Sound, with strong goaltending by
Emily Kelly, Port Elgin.
Stratford’s lone goal was put in by
Lisa Downey, assisted by Colleen
Maloney.
On the road this weekend in
Lower Lakes Female Hockey
League action, the Midgets were
zapped in both of their away games
by a single goal.
A tight game on Sunday had the
LIghtning losing only 1-0 to the
Cambridge Roadrunners with Kelly
playing outstandingly well in net.
On Saturday night the Lightning
played the Bluewater Hawks in
Strathroy, losing 2-1 with quick-
handed Sarah McGall, Owen Sound
between the pipes. Ceasar was the
only Lightning player able to find
the net being assisted by Kelly
Garrow, Port Elgin and Mezenberg.
The Lightning heads south this
weekend, playing in Windsor against
the Wildcats on Thursday night and
attending the fifth annual North
American Friendship Tournament in
Taylor, Michigan from Friday
through Sunday.
The PeeWee Lightning swept the
St. Thomas Panthers by scores of 2-
0 and 5-0. Then throw in a 1-0
victory over the Chatham Outlaws
and the bolts continue to role
through the League.
Eleven different players tallied
either a goal or an assist. Tori
Terpstra and Reagan Kaufman with
two goals each with singles going to
Ashlee Lawrence, Neve Van Pelt,
Miranda Lantz and Lexi Smith.
Assists went to Carmen Underwood,
Hannah Herman, Holly Nelson,
Lantz, Taylor MacDonald, Ciara
Lark, and Tersptra with two.
The PeeWees have a double
header coming up in Howick this
Sunday against Sarnia at noon and
3 p.m.
Midget girls trump Aces
The Blyth Midget Rep team
remains undefeated this season.
Numerous players continue to add
to this team’s accumulating point
total.
This week will be a real test for
the team as they play in the
Regional Midget Silverstick
Tournament in Wingham and Blyth.
The team plays Saturday in Blyth
against St. George and Grand
Valley.

Brussels Pre-Tykes started the
season against Zurich. The action
was a little slow but this picked up
when Matthew McKee scored a
nice one.Bennett Smith put one in
as did Arden Pipe.
McKee scored again but Zurich
played strong and they also got
some goals.
