Brussels had a workout, but Noah Terpstra put them on the board. Teeswater tied it, but Brussels didn’t keep it tied for long as Terpstra netted his second. Teeswater scored again then within a minute left went ahead again to win 3-2. Jarron Thompson and Konrad McArter played well in net. Brussels then travelled to Teeswater. The players knew they had to fight to win. Terpstra scored in the second but Teeswater answered. Great goaltending kept the game at 1-1. Brussels Atom LL squad ties 1-1 Going down to Zurich with only eight skaters left the Blyth PeeWee Reps with no choice but to skate hard from start to finish. The game got off to a slow start with Blyth waiting until the latter half of the first period when Josh Van Soest with a pass from Dallas Coultes got Blyth going. Then again with only two minutes remaining in the second Arden Coultes took the pass from Dustin Pennington who received the puck from Quinton Sjaarda to get goal number two. In the third A. Coultes scored again from Pennington and Van Soest. Then Zurich got on the score- board. Van Soest feeling that Blyth needed to get that goal back scored only 23 seconds later. PeeWee Reps take on Zurich The Blyth Midget boys hosted abroomball game against a Seaforthco-ed team on Friday, Nov. 20. Witha few players absent, coaches MattNairn and Gord Stute switched a fewplayers around to see how they could handle themselves during the game. Almost half of the first period went by before Blyth’s centre man Hunter Broda took a wind-up shot and scored a goal for his team. Alex Sanders earned the assist for setting up Broda’s goal. The second period saw members from both teams in the penalty box for being too rough and pushy on the ice. Blyth was the only team to score in the second half of the game after an excellent hard shot on the net. Ryan Stute picked up the ball and passed it around his opponents andZach Drost was at the oppositecorner of the net, ready to tap theball into the net.The score held with Blyth earninga 2-1 victory. Goalie Wyatt Bearss stood strong in net to earn the shutout. Defensiveplayers Lucas Frawley, Jon Hakkers,Brodie Grummett-Nairn and TylerO’Rourke played a real good gameand worked hard to clear the ballaway from their end to prevent Seaforth from getting a goal. On her game The Blyth-Brussels Bantam girls were on the ice against Kincardine at the Brussels arena on Sunday afternoon. The game ended in a 1-1 tie. Monday, Nov. 16 the daytime curlers got the week started. Winning skips were Pete Eskritt, Irving Elliott, John Mann, Mac Inglis, Ron McMichael and Bob Johnston. Monday night men’s league saw teams Barry Simpson and Kyle Forster pick up wins. Tuesday ladies’ winning skips were Jenn Elston, Carol Horton and Emily Elston. The Tuesday competitive league had all four sheets of ice in action. Winning skips were Art DeVos, Bill DeVos, Earl Fitch and Kyle Forster. Wednesday mixed league saw Tammy Adams score two big points in the final end to pick up the win. Other winners were Rob Middleton and John Dybes. Thursday, Nov. 19 the daytime curlers highlight was team Bob Johnston scoring three in the final end to edge out Jim (J.R.) Coultes 7-6. Jim is 89 years young and still loves playing the game. Other winning teams were Pete Eskritt, Wendell Stamper, Stewart Leedham, Mac Inglis and Ron McMichael. Thursday mixed league saw Kyle Forster pick up his third win of the week. Other winning skips were Cam Alton, Phil Eadie and Elli Schimanski. The Thursday night Belgrave winning teams were John Nixon, Murray McNichol and Murray Shiell. Friday night’s mixed team winners were skipped by Bill McDonald and Barry Simpson. Saturday night the club hosted a Christmas get-together from North Huron. The group enjoyed some curling, snacks, a finger food luncheon followed by a turkey roll. OUT OF THE HACK Congratulations to all the curling teams that qualified for the Pepsi junior men and women regional playdowns that are being held at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club this weekend Nov. 28 and 29. Skips and Stones – By Bruce Skinn Broomball squad wins 2-1 The Blyth Atom Local League team travelled to Teeswater on Nov. 15. The team started out slow, but found some energy to play the game. Teeswater would open the scoring in the first. The remainder of the first period saw action go from end to end with several chances by both teams. The second period remained scoreless as well with good saves made by both teams. With the clock ticking down, Blyth’s Drew VanWyk, picked up the puck at the blueline, skated in unassisted and buried one for his team to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams’ goalies shut the door in all final shots to keep the score tied. Blyth Atom LL plays to tie
