Vincent said that no sooner had a press release from politicians in communities that would be affected by the decision to shut down the A channel stations in Wingham and Windsor been released than it was announced that there was a deal to sell the stations to Shaw Communications. However, added Vincent, “to my knowledge nothing has been put in writing to that effect.” Vincent said they are now asking politicians to throw their weight behind a move to lobby CRTC to allow a different revenue stream than just advertising for stations. Asked what that meant, Vincent explained that currently stations are not allowed to receive royalties on local news that is picked up by cable. “CRTC prevents that at this current time.” Goderich’s Deb Shewfelt said. “I would like to see us support this. Our heritage really depends on news being reported. It’s not always about the bottom line.” Obituaries Reeve seeks county support Business Directory D & J CONSTRUCTION Jim McDonald 519-887-9607 - COMPLETE MECHANICAL SERVICE - COMPUTERIZED TUNE-UPS - TIRES - BRAKES MUFFLERS - VEHICLE INSPECTION STATION DAN'S AUTO REPAIR Owned and Operated by Dan & Heather Snell RR 3, Blyth, Ont.
