MtL GMIIAM Clerk, Stanley Township Bracefield, Ontario In a pretty candlelight ceremony on Friday, October 6, 1972, Veronica Louise (Vicky Lou) Finch and Kenneth Douglas Farquhar were united in marriage, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Raymond Finch, R,R, 1, Clinton and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Farquhar, R.R. 1, Clinton. Ontario Street United Church, decorated with chrysan- themums, was the setting for the double-ring ceremony performed by the Rev. L.S. Lewis. Mr. Charles Merrill, organist, ac- companied Mrs, Don Kay who sang the Lord's Prayer during the ceremony. The bride chose a floorlength gown of lagoda, designed on semi-empire lines. The bodice was styled with round neckline. long sleeves and ruffled trim. Many rows of imported alencon lace enhanced the gown. The A- line skirt, also edged with the same lace, swept to an aisle- wide train. A dainty headpiece featuring matching lace trim, held a french illusion chapel veil. She carried a bouquet of Talisman roses, white baby car- nations and stephanotis. Miss 'Wendy Caldwell of Toronto, maid of honour, was gowned in floor length rust-red polyester with a tucked bodice with high neckline and long full sleeves. She carried mums and autumn leaves in colours taken from the bridesmaids' dresses, The bridesmaids were Miss Faye Farquhar, sister of the groom, Miss Martha Carrie, London, and Miss Sue Mikell, Stratford. Their gowns of McALPIN Victoria Park, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.Y. Park of Portland, Oregon became the wife of Douglas Campbell McAlpine, son • of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Miss Susan Finch, her sister's flowergirl, wore a dress the same as that of the maid of honour and her flowers were also the same, . Later in the evening a reception for friends was held at Clinton Community Centre with dancing and a smorgasbord supper. For the wedding trip through Southern Ontario, the bride chose a navy arid red knitted dress with navy accessories, Mr. and Mrs. Farquhar will live at 17 Lyons Avenue, Brantford.' Guests from London, Strat- ford, Toronto, Kitchener, Grand Valley and Detroit attended the wedding, The groom's parents enter- tained the wedding party at a smorgasbord supper after the wedding rehearsal. The bride is a registered nurse on the staff of Brantford General Hospital, having graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, London earlier this year. The groom, a graduate of Fanshawe College, London is in his second year at University of Waterloo. E—PARK ber 16 in Eglinton United Church in Toronto. RVSSEI,L. cOt.gt-ouGH, The Clintonian Club met at the home of Mrs. Russell Colclongh on Thursday after- noon, November 2 and the president opened - the meeting with the Housewife's Creed followed by the Lord's Prayer. She also read a poem "Birth- day", The Secretary's report was read and approved and she also read letters from the Clinton Kinettes soliciting a donation for the Arthritis and Rheumatism Society, and one from the Canadian National In- stitute for the Blind, A donation will be forwarded to each request, Mrs. G. Glazier reported for the card committee and Mrs. H. Adams reported for the flower committee. There had been 10 hospital and 19 home calls made to sick and shut-ins the past month. Further arrangements were made for our Birthday Party to be held in the Rebekah Hall on Wednesday, November 22, The banquet is at 6 p,m. with games to follow. Those donating prizes are Mrs, F. Cummings, Mrs. C. Cunningham, Mrs, E. Kendall, Mrs. H. Adams, Mrs, E. Frey, Mrs. M. Hopson and Mrs. R. Colclough. Mr. Adrie Van Eer Ende led the Clinton Christian ,Reform song service on Sunday evening assisted by the church choir. Rev. Beukema, minister of the church, was in charge' of devotions. The annual Halloween party was held in the auditorium on Tuesday afternoon-With a good attendance of residents and visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Finlay of Goderich along with Mary Taylor and Norman Speir provided music for the occasion. The afternoons activities got un- derway with a grand march of Hospital Auxiliary 1" 'Fouteen attended a meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary on November 6 in the Board Room of the hospital. The meeting was chaired by the president, Mrs. Paul Walden. A letter of thanks from Mr. O.L. Engelstad on behalf of the Board of Gover- nors was read, expressing 'ap- preciation to the auxiliary for the donation of $3000 towards the purchase of new Xray equip- ment and a cauterizer for the operating room. The final figure for the 1972 Penny Sale were given by Mrs. W. Harrett. Monies raised amounted to $973,08. Interesting reports were given by Mrs. H. Ball, Mrs. D. Ball, Mrs. B. Menzies, Mrs. W.T. Harrett and Mrs. L.P. Walden who attended recent conventions in Exeter and Toronto. There is a need for knitted slippers for patients at the hospital. If there are ladies who would have time to knit, please contact Mrs. Brock Olde. Cl The next discussion of the af- ternoon was the Christmas Party on December 7. There will be an exchange of gifts. Con- veners for the program will be Mrs. L. Lockhart end Mrs. H. Managhan. Winners of the Dutch Auction were Mrs. C. Cunningham, Mrs. E, Frey, Mrs, M. Hopson and Mrs, E. Kendall. The mystery prize was won by Mrs. E. Ken- dall, The election of officers was the next order of business, The following list was put in to act for next term: president, Mrs. F, Cummings; first vice-president, Mrs, L. Lockhart; second vice- president, Mrs. E. Kendall; secretary, Mrs. R. Colclough; treasurer, Mrs. V, Lamprnan; cards convener, Mrs. G. Glazier; flower convener, Mrs. H, Adams; social committee, Mrs. E. Fry, Mrs. E. Kendall, Mrs. H. Managhan and Mrs. E, Pickard; auditors, Mrs. W, Wise and Mrs. R, Mulholland, The president closed the meeting with the Mizpah Benediction, This being the Club's Birth- day Month, birthday cake and ice cream, along with a cup of tea was served to close a busy afternoon. Next meeting will be a pot- luck dinner on December '7 at the home of Mrs, H. Managhan, •:•.• forty people in costumes in- cluding goblins, witches, black cats, horses, Indians, etc. Following an hour of dancing and fun, the residents were treated to home made candy and apples as well as cookies and beverage served by the kit- chen staff. Mrs, John Henderson of Seaforth arranged the program for Family Night this week, There were several vocal and dance numbers by the Hender- son sisters: Donna, Darlene, and Debbie; accordian solos by Susan McAllister; and in- strumental numbers by three junior boys who have started an orchestra: Kevin Campbell, Doug and Don Henderson, By the way, the regular family night program will be changed to •an afternoon program on Noveinber 23 for that week only to accommodate a concert by Captain Clark of the Salvation Army who is touring Canada. Given. in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor- length gown fashioned with guipure lace accenting the lagoda sheer bodice, Victorian sleeves, with matching lace edged mantilla veil flowing over , the soft folds of the velvet skirt. She carried a cascade bouquet of orange delight roses and white miniature carnations. Rev. James Reddoch conduc- ted the service and Mrs. Larry Hotson, the soloist, accom- panied by organist Mrs., Molly Cox, sang the "Wedding Prayer" and "More". Maid of honour was Pat Sem- Rte, Bayfield and the bildisMaids were Margaret Angus of St. Marys, Cathy Sem- ple,'Clinton, and Bev Semple of Bayfield. They wore autumn green empire waisted gowns of polyester satin and carried crescent bouquets of bronze, dark rust, yellow and white palms with wheat. Groomsman was Bill Taylor of Exeter and ushers were Tom and Doug Dalrymple of Bayfield and Brian Semple of Bayfield. Debbie Angus was the flower girl and Shawn Semple was the ringbearer. Following the wedding, a sup- per was held in the church hall. Guests were present from Lon- don, St. Marys, Stratford, Huron Park, Hensall and Port Hope. For travelling, the bride chose a mauve and white pant suit with black accessories. Following a wedding trip to Northern Ontario, the couple will reside in Exeter.
