ADELAIDE DANIELS SAYS If you haven't already received it, in the next few days you'll be getting your new Postal Code in the mail. It's not very exciting to look at. But it is very necessary. And it's really not as complicated as it looks. After two years of studying the systems of most of the countries of the world, here's how we developed Postal Codes for Canada. The map sequence on the right shows just how accurate Postal Codes really are. To uncornplicate your Postal Code, you will be receiving a Postal Code Pack- age. It contains your code, instructions on how to use it, a handy address book, special ..*„ Postal Code stickers for your envelopes, and postage paid address cards that you should send to your friends. If you don't have enough, you can get as many as you need at your nearest Post Office. Because, after all, your Code doesn't move your mail unless your friends use it. And if you haven't received your Code by October 16th, please call your local Post Office. We will mail it to you immediately. It is possible however, that you are not in the Southwestern Ontario Postal District, in which case your area may not have been coded yet, Get the habit. K: Canada was first divided into 18 large areas, each designated by a letter. K2: By adding a number, we narrow that area down—for example, a city. K2P: By adding another letter, we indicate a specific section of that city. K2P OP4: And by adding three more characters that teetion of the city is further narrowed CO one side of a street between two intersections. Codes can also represent: —an Office building whit 10 or niote cOmpanies. —or ti company that reteiVeS large volumes of mail, .--or an apartment building With over .50 suites. —or, hi less densely populated areas,a Code will represent the whole town. THE VACATION TRAP So you are going on vacation, and the price includes meals lots of them . . all big . alt rich and with second por- tions available; especially desserts, Trapped! You are trapped between all that food you have already paid for and your diet programme. • What are your choices? Firstly, forget the diet, you tell your- self you only live once so why not enjoy? You can start your diet when you get home. After all, it won't be the first time you quit and started over again. Or, you can say. to yourself that you've been so good up to now you deserve a reward. Keep on giving yourself pats on the back and by the time your holiday is over, there should be at least ten extra pounds to pat. Then there's another alternative. Don't go on vacation. Be a martyr and stay home. The choice I recommend is to go on your holiday and stick with your diet. You might say: how can T possibly do this? I have found it's all in one's attitude. Learn to enjoy holidays without making eating the highlight. If you keep food in its proper perspective, you can enjoy eating, enjoy holidaying and keep on losing weight. The meal plan- I recommend for weight watchers contains foods anc! choices that should present no, difficulty in hotels. The important part of dieting, when dining out, is to be pre- cise. Tell your waiter how you want your food prepared and don't succumb to his offers of more. He will honour your requests but you must ask. Once your waiter or waitress understands that you really mean business they will usually go out of their way to help. Weight watching is your responsibility.
