Mrs. Beaton reported for the visiting committee and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor and Mrs. Hazel Corbett expressed sincere thanks for cards and flowers received. An invitation to attend the 15th annual "Degree Rally" at Ruth Rebekah Lodge, Stratford on November 18 was received, Following the meeting, Mrs, Maggie Campbell made the draw for the afghan and blanket, on which the Lodge sold tickets. Mrs. Elizabeth Riley won the afghan and Mrs. Ann Klungell won the blanket. WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Over 60 relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker recently and surprised them on their 40th wedding anniversary. They were recipients of many gifts. The lunch was served from table centered with a three- storey anniversary cake, candles in candelabra and floral arrangements. Guests attended from London, Mitchell, Goderich, Grand Bend, Oakville, Brampton, Hen- sail, Exeter and Stratford. SHOWERS Friends and neighbours of Mrs. Brenda Russell (nee Lavender) held a miscellaneous shower for her at the home of Mrs. Eric Luther on Wednesday evening, Contests were enjoyed under the direction of Mrs. Jessie Cameron. The bride sat in a beautifully decorate,d chair and was assisted by Mrs. Cathy Neilands and Jean Goddard to open gifts to which Brenda fit- tingly replied. Everyone was favoured with a couple of piano and organ duets, with Eric Luther on the organ and Mrs. Helen Goddard on the piano. The shower was arranged by Mrs. Eric Luther and Susan and Mrs. Jessie Cameron. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Luther and her assistants. Obituark EVA ANNIE MURCH Eva Annie Murch of Mary St. in Clinton passed away in Strat- ford General Hospital on Sep- tember 29, 1972. She was 61. Mrs. Murch, the former Eva Gilbert, was born in England on Dec. 3 1910 and before her marriage to Huron Murch on Sept,. 25, 1937, at Holmesville she resided in - Goderich Township. Mr, Murch survives her. After their marriage the couple resided in the Clinton district where Mrs. Murch was a member of Ontario St. United Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters Beatrice Murch and Mrs. Ar- thur (Donna) Hallam, both of Stratford; her mother Mrs.'Fred Gilbert, Goderich; three grand- children; and three brothers, Ashley and Jack of Goderich and Gordon of Kamloops, B.C. The funeral service was held from the Ball Funeral Home on Sept. 29 with the Rev. Lewis of- ficiating. Burial was in Clinton Cemetery. The pallbearers were Ashley Gilbert, Jack Gilbert, Gordon Gilbert, Edward Grigg, Elmer Trick and Jack Murch. Cancer can be beaten. For further information, contact your local Cancer Unit.
