The hymn, "Saviour Teach Me Day by Day" was sung followed by a reading, "Take Time". The scripture was read by Mrs, Henry Flunking with ,meditation and prayer by Mrs. Howatt. The hymn "We Cannot Think of Them as Dead" was read in unison in memory of Mrs. Ron (Marguerite) Neil and Mrs. Emerson (Mae) Ilesk, The treasurer's report was read by Mrs. E. Wood and the minutes of the last meeting and correspondence were read by the secretary, Mrs. B. Shobbrook. Seven pairs. of pyjamas were made for the Children's Aid Society. Mrs. Whyte reminded members of the Women's Retreat to be held on June 14 at the United Church Camp. The Berean unit is to provide lunch for the general ' meeting on June 26, each member to bring a guest, Mrs; Howatt asked for a volunteer for president or vice- president to complete the year in Mrs.Livingstone's absence. Mrs. Howatt closed this portion of the meeting with a reading, "So many common folk" and the Lord's Prayer, in unison. The study period was taken by Mrs. Laura Saundercock with a poem "Living Faith" and a contest and the study of Swaziland and Lesotho, countries in Africa. Rev. S. McDonald showed slides, "Garth Legee, a Missionary, Reports on Africa" and then 'closed the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Saundercock thanked Mr. McDonald and lunch was served by Mrs. J. Armstrong and Mrs. W. Manning. Londesboro Explorers concluded activities for the year with a special graduation service for mothers and daughters. The president, Barbara. Glousher. opened the meeting with a call to worship. The girls repeated the purpose and sang "This is My Father's World". Cheryl Reid read the scripture and Barbara Carter lead prayer. Linda Johnston sang a solo followed by a reading by Debbie Hunking. Sharon Thompson played an instrumental and-Golda Sewers read a poem. An instrumental b,y Kerri Medd was followed by a duet by Karen Durnin and Debbie Westerhout and a reading by Ruthann Penfound. ,,,"The Lord's My "Shepherd" _ . was sung and Mrs. Whyte conducted the graduation ceremony, presenting pins and certificates to Barbara Glousher, Kerri Medd, Cheryl Reid, Michelle Burns and Golda Sewers. The worship service closed with prayer and Mr. McDonald showed the film, "The Evening of Fellowship". Lunch was served., The Women's Institute held their meeting on Wednesday, June 14 in the Community Hall with a good attendance. The president, Mrs. Eric Anderson opened with a reading "Fatherhood", the "Opening Ode," 'Mary Stewart Collect" and "0 Canada". Roll call was answered by guessing the combined weights of the president and secretary which was won by Mrs. Don Buchanan. The minutes of the last meeting were read. Susan Jamieson played a piano solo and Mrs. Tom Duizer introduced the guest speaker. Mrs. Ray Flowers of Clinton, Mrs. Flowers who is a • physiotherapist, spoke on "How would you help a patient to recuperate on returning home from hospital?" A question period followed her talk. Mrs. Don Buchanan thanked her and presented her with a gift. A reading "Safety and You in the Home" prepared by Mrs. Don Buchanan was read by Mrs. Harry Tebbutt. Correspondence was read regarding a trainers' school on August 24-25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Ontario Street United Church, Clinton. Leaders for the fall program, The Third Meal, will be Mrs. Don Buchanan, Mrs, Paul Southgate, Mrs. Harry Snell and Mrs. Harry Watkins. Mrs. Gourley reported on Huronview senior citizens week next week, Londesboro Women's Institute is in charge on Thursday with six volunteers, Mrs. Gourley, Mrs. Margaret Taylor, Mrs. Eric Anderson, Mrs. Reg, Lawson, Mrs. B. Shobbrook, Mrs. Robinson and alternate, Mrs. E. Wood, The Institute will cater for a graduation tea for Hullett Central School, Grade 8 on June 29 and an anniversary on July 8. Mrs. Don Buchanan gave a very interesting report .of the District Annual meeting held in Wingham on May 31st. ' The meeting closed with "The Queen" and W.I. grace. Lunch was served by Mrs, Reg. Lawson, Mrs. Ron Gross, Mrs. Eric Anderson and Mrs. Jim Jalrrieson. The Scout Troop and their leaders, Ian Iltilley and Nick Whyte, enjoyed a hikeathon and then went to CaldWell's pit for a swim with tett scouts attending. Rev, McDonald along with other local district ministers, led in group discussions held at Women's Retreat held on Wednesday, June 14 at the United Church camp, Goderich. Those attending from Londesboro UCW Were Mrs. Margaret Whyte, Mrs. Laura Saundercock, Mrs, Ena Howatt, Mrs, Lorne Flunking and. Mrs. Tom Duizer. Seventeen Londesboro cubs and their leaders, Rev, McDonald, Larry Lovett, Stewart Glousher and Bob Watkins spent Friday evening to Saturday evening at Point Farms, Goderich. Special guests at the United Church Sunday morning, 'June 18 were Hullett Masonic Lodge with visiting members from Blyth and Seaforth. The Hullett presiding Worshipful Master is Eric Anderson. Harry Lear and Jack Tamblyn welcomed the congregation into the sanctuary. Rev, McDonald welcomed the Masonic Lodge and all visitors. The scripture lesson was read by Gordon Shobbrook, Rev. McDonald's message was "How Good a Christian Really Am I?" The flowers in the church were placed in loving memory of Morgan Jones ' and Harvey .Hunking by their families. On Thursday, June 22, Wingham W.I. celebrated its seventieth anniversary.
