a big success
The evening of Song presented
by Marjorie Hays Dunlop
A.R.C,T, and Paul Baker
F.R.C.O., L.R.A.M., A.R.C.M.
turned out to be an evening of
musical enchantment for the
enraptured audience,
Wesley Willis United Church,
beautifully decorated with spring
flowers and lighted tapers, made
an impressive setting for the
memorable evening. The capacity

by Ray Wise, president of the

sponsored the programme.
Mrs. Dunlop's vivacious
personality and dramatic charm
completely captivated her
audience and led them through a
variety of musical numbers
progressing from the classical,
"Si Mi Chiamano Mimi" and
"Valzer di Musetta" from La
Bohtme by Puccini, to a group of
Scottish numbers including
"Angus MacDonald and "Ye
Banks and Braes" — on to such
Irish pieces as "Danny Boy" and
"The Kerry Dance".

filled everyone's heart with the
joy of spring with such numbers
as "When April Sings" and
"Spring in My Heart" the
programme concluded with a
group of Broadway hits including
"Summertime" and "Sound of
Music", The audiences'

by an awed silence and again with
a thundering applause.

enamel may squeeze dentine until
it presses against the sensitive
nerve endings of the pulp.
Expansion from heat could also
make dentine close in on the pulp
and trigger pain.
Working with extracted human
and cattle teeth it has been
discovered that tooth enamel can
suffer "thermal fatigue" from
the constant temperature changes
inside the mouth when people
consume such things as hot coffee
and cold ice cream.
The investigators say the
enamel is not damaged when the
tooth is heated, as in the intake of
a hot drink. But when the tooth
surface is subjected to sudden
temperature drops, like eating or
drinking something cold, the
enamel tends to contract and is
more susceptible to cracking.—
