Assessment Region on May 1st.
All enumerators involved in this programme are vested with
the authority to ask the necessary questions and each one
carries an identification card.

transferred to Victoria Hospital,
London where he will remain
from three to five weeks. He was
employed at Holmesville Valley

Massachusetts, spent a few days
last week at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs, Frank
Cummings. Harry, who is
working on his Ph. D„ will be
taking a position with the
International Development
Research Centre in Ottawa
beginning May 25.

held their April meeting on
Thursday evening in the hall. New
business was discussed. The
Legion Hall is booked for October
14 for an autumn dance,
All members were in favor of
helping financially, Margie Whyte
in the Crossroads Programme
this summer, Several members
attended a Jewel Night at Atwood
on April 17,
The District Council has
purchased a wheel chair to be
used in the Huron District by
anyone in need.
The Men's Bowling Party for
the Cancer Funds in on April 26
when all Forester Families are to
enjoy bowling at the Nobel Lanes
in Seaforth. The Annual Barbecue
is coming up in June. The 3rd
member on the committee is Anna
Dolmage. The next banquet money
is to be given to Cancer Research.

On Saturday, April 15, the
Clinton Junior and Senior
Gardeners went to Hanover to a
Convention for all districts in this
area. Mrs, Pullen, Mrs. McCann
and Mr. Cook drove the Juniors.
We had a lovely buffet lunch.
Then we had an appreciation by
the Blyth Society at 1 p.m. After
that we had the opening with
O'Canada and a welcome by the
Mayor, Reverend Mr. Swan.
Mr. Eric Slater, O. H.A. Second
Vice President, also gave a
greeting and told about everything
that will be going on in Kingston.
Another type of convention is
being held in Kingston during the
summer and there will be fresh
flowers and arrangements on
display.
Then we had roll call. Owen
Sound and Clinton are the only
societies that have Junior groups.
Both groups had displays of their

visited one day the past week with
Mrs, Irene Grimoldby.
Miss Betty Thompson of
Toronto and Mr. Barry Powelly of
Ottawa spent the weekend with her
parents Mr, and Mrs, John
Thompson, Jim, Sharon and Bob.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Riley visited
on Saturday evening with Mr, and
Mrs. Mike Bannon and Melanie of
Stratford.
Miss Vickie Powell of Auburn
spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Buchanan, Bill, Doug,
Betty, and Bob,
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Jewitt and
Lori of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Dowson, Brenda, Bonnie and John
of Varna were Sunday visitors
with Mrs. Ella Jewitt and boys.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson
and Rick visited on Sunday
evening with Mr. and Mrs. Carter
Kerslake and Craig of Staffa. Rick
remained to spend a few days this
crafts. Seaforth has joined the
society this year. Clinton has a
combined membership of 254
Juniors and Seniors and Owen
Sound has approximately 257.
Every society was represented at
this convention,
The President of the
Association is Mr. Picton. There
are 13 districts in Southern Ont.
and there are 3 districts in
Northern Ont.
There will be a course in
Guelph University Tuesday, Wed.
and Thurs. July 28, 29, and 30.
Mr. Frank Stone of Simcoe was
the guest speaker. He spoke on
dahlias. He also showed us films
on his flowers. At the end he had a
question period. Chesley district
thanked Mr. Stone for coming and
showing his films.
We then had our 1971 report by
Mrs. Bray. Mr, Stone offered to
donate bulbs to the junior
societies. We would then have a
contest for the best colour etc,
The Secretary and Treasurer
gave their minutes.
The location of the 1973
meeting will he at Blyth. Mrs. Kli
is the director for District 8. Ed,
Fielding, Wingham, Mrs. Russell
Bray, Lion's Head and Mrs.
Lobber, Owen Sound are assistant
directors. The new business was
read.
Brussels thanked Hanover for.
hosting this meeting and for the
lovely meal.
This is the former Par-Knit Hosiery plant on Albert Street that will
be renovated to accommodate the office of the Huron County Board
of Education.purchase price for the building and renovation costs
were estimated at $198,000.

Mr. and Mrs, Theron Bottles of
Winthrop were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. George
Mcilwain and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dale and Mr.
and Mrs. Robert McMichael of
Walton spent Thursday in
Lambeth at the funeral home when
they visited with Mrs. Harry
Hartford and extended sympathy
to her on the passing of her
husband, •
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riley spent
Monday in London.
Mrs. John Thompson spent
Monday in Toronto visiting with
Betty.
