McKillop Township will raise $62,101 for
Huron County purposes this year it was
learned when the township council met In
regular session Monday. Of this amount
$34,319 is for general purposes and $20,782
for roads.
Last year the township paid the county
$55,795, of which $28,489 was for geeeral
purposes and $27,306 for roads.
Mrs. Kenneth McClure, clerk-treasurer,
said she hoped the schOol rate would be set this
month and then the whole tax program set,
Court of Revision was held on the MoNaught
Drainage Works. When one appeal was heard
on a benefit assessment final passing of the
drain report was held over for another
meeting,
The tender. lowest of four, of Georee
Radford Construction Ltd. of Blyth, was
accepted for construction of the McQuaid
Drain at a cost of $1,325.
Council agreed to pay five percent of the
cost of the two-Way radio on the Blyth Fire
Truck—of an approximately $3,000 for, the
cost.
A statement of a total of $11,756.08 in unpaid
taxes has been sent to County Clerk-
Treasurer for him to collect.
Passed for payment were road accounts of
$5,743.40 and general accounts of $5,326.06,
Council will request a supplementary
allocation of road subsidy money from the
Department Of Transportation and
Communication—construction, $10,000 and
maintenance,, $5,000.
Council renewed its agreement with

experience having served on staff of a number
of Department of Education courses and Kent
County committees,
He is married and has three children. He
will be assuming his duties in Huron County
August 1, 1972.
Ralph E, Smith is presently serving as
Principal of Robertson Memorial Public
School in Goderich, Previous to coming to
Goderich in 1960, he had a total of 10 years
teaching experience from rural schools in
Perth County,to assistant principal of a new
school in Scarborough.

In 1960, Mr, Smith became principal of
Victor Lauriston Public School in Goderich
and in 1963 was appointed supervising
principal of the three public schools in
Goderich.
During that year, he helped plan and
organize the original section of Robertson
Memorial School and assumed responsibility
for the closing of the old Victor Lauriston
Public School.
Mr, Smith is married and has five children.
He will be assuming his new duties August 1,
1972.

The W.M.S. of Carmel
Presbyterian Church met at the
Church Monday evening at 8,15,
President Mrs. Rachel Schwalm
opened the meeting with an Easter
prayer.
Easter hymns were sung with
Mrs. Ed Munn accompanying at
the piano. Assistant Secretary
Mrs. Pearl Love read the minutes
and the correspondence. Eleven
members answered the roll call
with their ,favourite hymn.
Eighteen visits were made to the
sick and shut-ins. The least coin
collection was made while the
President read an article called
"The Fruit of the Spirit is Joy",
and ended with a, Kam from the
Least coin book.
Preparations have been made
for the Easter Thank Offering
meeting for April 10, with a
special guest speaker Rev.
