Protietts needed

milk, and cheese, are Complete
proteins.
Plants also contain protein.
Those plants particularly high in
protein are called "meat
alternates", These are dried
peas, dried beans, soybeans,
lentils, and nuts, Although these
plants contain a high amount of
protein, the protein is
incomplete, because plants do not
contain all the essential amino
acids required by the body. To
obtain adequate protein from
plants alone requires a knowledge
of the amino acid composition of
each, in order to select a
combination of vegetable foods
containing the right amino acids
in sufficient amounts.
A balanced diet should include
some animal protein (meat,
poultry, fish, eggs, milk, cheese)
each day, say food specialists at
the Ontario Food Council, Ontario
Department of Agriculture and
Food.
