The student with his hand on the

slowly, gradually increasing
speed, sometimes slowly,
sometimes suddenly. As students
would yell and drop from the

Particularly painful were the
quick bursts of electricity when
the crank was turned jerkily, That
is what is happening in the Church
today.
Those who will be the Church in
the coming decade will be those
who have found the Grace of God in
Jesus Christ sufficient to set
them free to live new life-styles of

Dormant oil spray
Scale insects and mites attack a
wide variety of trees and shrubs
each year. Where there has been a
serious infestation the previous
season, these predators can be
controlled by using dormant oil
sprays in the early spring, says
D. B. McNeill, horticultural
specialist, Ontario Department of
Agriculture and Food.
The oil used is a mineral oil
specially formulated for this
purpose. It must be applied while
the plants are dormant, before the
buds start to grow in the spring.
The oil covers the eggs of the
mites and the scale of the scab
insects which contains the eggs.
This causes them to smother and
die before they hatch,

Apply the oil with a sprayer,
mixing eight to 10 teaspoons in a
gallon of water. The oil comes in
an emulsion form and mixes
readily with water. The spray can
be applied to apples, pears,
cherries, plums, lilacs, juniper
and yews.
The oil spray is very effective
in controlling scale insects and
mites. However, it should only be
used where a large population of
these predators has overwintered
on, the trees.
