own Talk. Hurou-Perth, board buys land in Seaforth OPENING
BY .MARE Ftt)DQ
as per section 81 (2) of the
Separate School Act.
The study of the tax levies was
authorized at a board meeting two
weeks ago when a Stratford
trustee questioned his city paying
its levy in four instalments,
However, the business
administrator, who was absent
from that meeting, assured board
members that Stratford paid its
fax levy twice yearly even though
taxes were collected four times
yearly.
Trustee Joseph Looby, Dublin,
stated "I think we should get a
report on the feeling of the public
school board."
Jack McCann, Ailsa Craig,
vice-chairman of the board, who
presided for the meeting,
suggested the matter be left over
for another meeting after Trustee
Ted Geoffrey, Zurich, offered to
contact Charles Rau of Zurich,
the separate school
representative on the Huron
County Board of Education, and
Insurance Company,
A study on the Family Life
Advisory Committee program at
St, Jerome's -college in. Waterloo
commencing in July will be
attended by Sister Mary St. Louis,
principal of St. James School,
Seaforth. At present the board has
a committee studying the
possibility of the Family Life
program being started in the
schools under the Huron-Perth
board.
9. Your wash shall be clean,
though your rivers be dirty.
10, You shall covet your
neighbour's car and his color TV
and his whiter-than-white wash,
for of such material possessions
is the kingdom of heaven.
Besides, you deserve the best, it
costs less than you think, and
higher demand is good for the
economy.

An article in last Friday's
London Free Press (March 24),
has been drawn to our attention. It
is a story written by Mr. William
Heine of the prominent part
played by Brigadier John Lawson
at the siege of Hong Kong in World
War 2, where he met his death. He
was a brother of Mr. Colin
Lawson of R.R,2, Hayfield.

who hire a halt to present such
interesting movies as ''The Ra

larger staff in attendance to
control the audience. What might
have been a very interesting
evening was ruined by noisy small
children Who were present,
unattended. At times it. was
almost impossible to hear the
sound track. No reflections on the
Clinton Legion as they only rent
out the hall for such occasions and
are not at all responsible for the
program.

In last week's From Our Early
Files" mention was made of the
Bluebells, This was an
interdenominational group of
girls organized by Mrs. C.
VanDamme. They were active in
visiting,sick people in the hospital
and the residents of the County
Home. Several of them became
nurses in later life. ,Mrs.
VanDarnme invites any of the
former Bluebells to visit the
people living at her "Holiday
Home". They would be very
Welcome.,

Those who think the original
Ten Commandments are old hat in
this permissive age, might be
shocked into second thoughts
after reading Patricia Clarke's
Ten Commandments of the
Secular Seventies in the April
issue of the United Church
Observer,
With tongue-in-cheek, Mrs.
Clarke, Associate Editor, in her
column, suggests the following
list, made up by her family, while
sitting around the television set.
She notes that the list is by no
means exhaustive and invites
readers to send a better one if
they wish. But, she says,
"personally we're sticking with
Moses."
TEN COMMANDMENTS RE—
VISITED:
OR,
WOULD MOSES SUFFER
CULTURE SHOCK?
1. You shall have no other gods
than self-fulfilment. And for this a
man shall not cleave to wife and
children, but forsaking all
responsibility to others shall
seek the Real ME.
2. You shall make of yourself a
graven image of what is young,
sexy and non-smelly; and you
shall bow down before Maclean's
toothpaste, Gillette shaving
cream, Right Guard deodorant,
Hai Karate after-shave lotion,
Arrow shirts, Carhart jeans and
Florsheim shoes.
3. You shall not take unto yourself
any responsibility for what you
do, or for those under your care.
For you cannot help an unhappy
childhood or the influence of
television or what everybody else
lets their children do.
4. Six months shall you labor and
do all your work. Then you shall
take a winter break in the
Caribbean.
5. Honor the young, for the old
have had their chance, and it is not
important to know anything. It is
only important to relate.
6. You shall not wait to get
anything you want, but you shall go
now—pay later in all that you can
do, whether it be lying with a
woman not your bride, or
spending money beyond your
income, or losing weight by taking
drugs.
7. You shall not deny yourself any
physical gratification. Of such is
life made, and you only go around
once.
8. You shall not steal anything
small. But if you "teal $500,000 or
more, then verily I say unto you
that you shall be a celebrity and
interviewed on television.
Trustee Chris Walraven,
Marys, offered to contact
Leonard Feeney, Stratford,
separate school representative
on the Perth County Board of
Education-to get the feelings of
those public school boards. At
present both public school boards
accept the School levies in two
yearly payments.
Accident insurance for parent
volunteers will be provided as
made available by Pitts Life
