Legion 's gala event New Year's Eve Auburn United Church was decorated with two pots of poinsettias for the December 11 double-ring wedding ceremony at which Margaret Colleen Park, Dungannon, exchanged vows with William Gordon Naylor, Auburn. Mr. and Mrs. Benson Park, Dungannon, are the parents of the bride, and Mrs. 'Jessie Naylor, Auburn, is the groom's mother. Pastor Fry, Auburn, and Rev. Wittich of Blyth, performed the ceremony. Organist was Mrs. Norman Wightman, Auburn. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a full-length white crepe gown with a train trimmed with flowered lace. The gown featured an empire waist trimmed with flowered lace and elbow-length bell sleeves. She chose a shoulder-length veil and carried red carnations with red velvet streamers and holly. Matron of honor was Mrs. Alex Maclnnis, sister of the groom, Goderich. She wore a full-length gown of crepe in a coral shade. The empire waist In the hall, prepared by the entertainment committee, the 160 Legion members and guests celebrated New Year's Eve again this year. The ladies took advantage of the "dress optional" and turned out graciously in from evening gowifs to pant suits. To aid in the party attitude, small corsages were presented to the ladies as they entered the hall. The music by Ian Wilbee and his band was quite well adapted to the crowd and there were very few empty seats when the band was in action. This is the kind of a "pqty" everyone enjoys and the evening passed too quickly. At midnight, the was trimmed with flowered lace and the sleeves were elbow-length bells. 'She carried tinted green carnations with green streamers and holly. Groomsman was George Naylor, brother of the groom, Toronto, Ushers were Glen Naylor, brother of the groom, Auburn, and Douglas Park, brother of the bride, Dungannon. The reception was held at the Dungannon Agricultural Hall. The bride's mother wore a black and white crepe dress with netting and a corsage of pink carnations. The groom's mother wore a violet fortrel crepe dress and a corsage of pink carnations. Following her wedding, the bride changed to a violet pant suit of wool knit and a corsage of pink carnations. Mr. and Mrs. Naylor are residing at 122 Rattenbury St., Clinton. Prior to ,her wedding, the bride was the guest of honor at showers given by Mrs. Alex Maclnnis, Goderich, • and Mrs. Robert Woods, St. Augustine. usual noise makers, hats and balloons brought everything to a peak and the New Year was welcomed by one and all. This years party was catered by the Hohner family of RR 4, Clinton, and the meal was a masterpiece. The Branch thanks Murray and the family who gave up their New Year's Eve to help us enjoy ours. We will remember them in the future. Our next social evening is Jan. 15 with the Bluewater Playboys supplying the music, We hope many of our friends will be present and a good time is usually had by all. Margaret welcomed everyone and opened the Meeting with a prayer. The World's Day of Prayer meeting will be held March 3 in the church parlor. There will be five meetings in the year with the fist one on March 3 and the Berean Unit in charge of lurich. A committee of Nona Pipe, Margaret Whyte, Addie Flunking and Betty Hulley were appointed to make holiday calendars to be distributed in the congregation. The gift for guest speakers is to have a definite price, It was suggested that a plant be given to ladies. It was moved that no money be accepted for catering to funeral lunches. Ena Howatt reported that 10 quilt tops are ready for to tie, LiningsPare to be, purchased. The buying committee is to buy dishes to complete a setting of 100 and replace broken relish dishes. Thankyous were read from Brucefield U.C.W., for Helen Wells for her mother Mrs. Myrtle Yungblutt, St. Christopher House, Toronto, and a Christmas greeting from Mrs. Rev. White, Springfield. Margaret Whyte closed the meeting with the Benediction. Addle Hunking moved a vote of thanks to Margaret for the use of her home and the desserts which all applauded. PERSONALS Mrs. Robert Burns went to St. Joseph's Hospital, London on Sunday for surgery on Monday. We wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. Jim McCool returned from Victoria Hospital London to Clinton Hospital on Jan. 3 where he is a patient. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Dickson and baby, Daryl from London to our community occupying the house on the farm of Mr. Robert Baker, concession 11, east. Mrs. Jack Lee had the misfortune to cut her right hand requiring several stitches. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gardiner of Thamesroad visited with his sister, Mrs. Ena Howatt on Monday; Jan. 3. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs Ben Riley on a new granddaughter born to Mr, and • Mrs. Ron Goodfellow in ' Georgetown, Mr. and Mrs. John Radford are on holidays motoring to Florida on Thursday. Robbie and Michael are visiting with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Radford. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Armstrong in the loss of her brother, Bill Taman of Brampton on Friday, Jan. 7. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter attended the funeral on Monday. Temporary entombment was in Blyth Mausoleum for spring burial. Mrs. Alma Tyndall returned to her home last week after spending the past three weeks at the home of her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Roy McVittie in Blyth while Mr. and Mrs. McVittie and Randy were on holidays in Florida. Mrs. Allan Shaddick spent the weekend .in Toronto attending a conference. (Intended for last week.) The first Londesboro Cub Pack held a hayride behind Harry Watkins' horses on Wednesday evening, Dec, 29. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all the boys and their leaders, this being a first for many of the boys. Mrs. Watkins and Mrs. Ross Lovett served lunch. The Londesboro Hi-C held their recreation night in the form of a hayride on Tuesday evening with Allen Shaddick supplying the tractor and Murray Adams the wagon, About SO young people attended and lunch was served following the hayride at the home of the counsellors, Robert and Donna Shaddick with Ian Halley, Harvey Stewart, Vaughn Hunking and Karen Tyndall in charge of the lunch. On Sunday evening the 111-C held their regular study meeting in the church hall. Paul Buchanan Showed his slides and spoke of Spain and Switzerland where he and Jeff Shaddick had visited recently. The new 1972 executive was elected: Jim Thompson, Louise Lovett, Brian Jewitt, Don Jewitt and Ian Halley with Marsha McNall as treasurer. The next recreation night will be held Jan, 29 with Donna Hunking, Audrey Peel, Pat Whitfield and Don Jewitt in charge. PERSONALS The community was happy to learn of the improvement in the condition of Kevin Jewitt in Victoria Hospital, London this week. Kevin recognized and spoke to his mother and brother John for the first time Sunday afternoon. lie has been unconcious' since he was injured in an accident Dec. 17. We are pleased to report the improved condition of Jim McCool in Victoria Hospital, London where he has spent the last number of weeks. Rev. McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. George Pollard of Blyth were dinner guests on Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. John Pollard and family. Sympathy is extended to Jack Armstrong on the loss of his sister, Mrs. Thomas (Teresa) Pryce of R. R. 1, Dublin on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jackson, Brian, Kenneth and Sandra of Ridgetown returned home on Tuesday alter spending Christmas holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen and Mr. Ken Jackson and Graham of Blyth. Sympathy is expressed to Brother Carman, Miss Donna Youngblutt returned to Vancouver on Monday morning. Her grandmother, Mrs, Elsie Youngblutt accompanied her for a month's visit. Mrs. Emma Livingstone spent Christmas with her family in London and returned to London on Thursday morning to spend some time with her son Bob while Mrs. Livingstone is in Hospital following surgery. Mr. Harry Webster spent New Year's Day with his aunt, Mrs Lillie Webster and Mr. Will Govier, New Year's Day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shaddick were Mrs. Mary Robinson of Goderich and Miss Edythe Lockhart of Stratford. The groom is the on of Mr. and Mrs. William Armstrong, Goderich and the bride is the daughter of Mrs. Donald Bissett of Clinton. The church was decorated with candelabra, with white mums and red carnations, holly and bouquets of red carnations. Dr. A. J. Mowatt officiated at the double-ring ceremony while music was provided by the organist Lorne Dotterer and Mr. Bill Craig, soloist, sang How Great Thou Art, The, Lord's Prayer and 0 Perfect Love. The bride, given in marriage by her brohter, Wayne Bisseq'of Kitchener, wore an empress-style gown of white polyester cashmere with long, full sleeves. The bodice, neck and sleeves were trimmed with guipure lace. A bow of the same. material as the dress held a three-tiered veil of silk illusion which formed a cathedral-length train and was also trimrned with guipure lace. The bride carried a Bible with red sweetheart roses. Matron of honour was Mrs. Lynn Bissett of Kitchener who wore a Christmas Red de Ball velvet, semi-A-line gown with high collar and short sleeves. She carried a white fur muff with a spray of holly and red carnations. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Feithlinn Campbell, Goderich and Mrs. Darlene Fowler, Goderich, who were gowned identically' to the matron of honour. Groomsman was Dennis Fowler of Goderich and ushers were Murray Campbell and Ivan Dailey, both of Goderich. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Clinton Legion Hall which was decorated in a Christmas theme. For her travelling costume, the bride chose a two-piece ensemble of beige, crocheted polyester with a beige coat with natural mink collar and brown accessories. She wore a corsage of red sweetheart roses. The couple will reside in Goderich. Prior to the wedding the bride was guest of honour at showers given by Mrs. Murray Campbell, Goderich and by Mrs. Harold Emmerson, Clinton.
