That’s what you get when you advertise in The
Citizen. Every week your message, whether a tiny
classified, or a full page ad, goes to more than 2000
homes in North Huron...and unlike many
salespeople, we’re welcomed inside. What’s more,
we’re often asked to stick around for a whole week.

Merry Christmas and Happy New
Year to the folks of the
Walton/Brussels area. I hope
everyone has a great time with
family and friends over the holidays.
Thanks for keeping me up to date
with the happenings around our area
over the past year and for your words
of encouragement in my attempt to
keep you informed and maybe make
you laugh.
The year of 2010 has been a very
busy year for the McDonald family.
We have had three family weddings
to bring our extended familytogether and had a great time. Wewent to Mexico in January for themarriage of our niece from Calgary. Then our son Scott married Alicia inJuly on the farm and we have justcelebrated wedding number threethis past weekend.
Our daughter Kelly married Adam
Jarosz in a beautiful Christmas and
winter wonderland setting. The
wedding was held at Duff’s United
Church with Rev. Peter officiating.
Celebrating the joyous occasion, the
wedding party danced down the aisle
to the song ”Forever” by Chris
Brown. The church was decorated in
silver and burgundy for the wedding
and Christmas season by the
McDonald family. The blustery
winter winds shortened the outdoor
pictures at the farm but not the spirits
of the wedding party.
The newlyweds and immediate
family stopped at the Seaforth
Hospital to have pictures taken with
Grandma Leona on their way to the
reception at the River Garden Inn in
Stratford. The hall beautifully
decorated in black, white and silver
greeted over 125 guests. The guests
had their pictures taken in a sleigh
surrounded by Christmas trees upon
their arrival. A wonderful dinner and
party was enjoyed by all. A special
surprise appearance by Santa Claus
thrilled the children and the bride
and groom. Congratulations to Kelly
and Adam on their marriage and
creating the wedding of their
dreams. The couple will be residing
in New Hamburg. Our McDonald family membersarrived from the west over the lastweek to attend Kelly and Adam’swedding. Michael Warwick anddaughter Sydney arrived fromCalgary the Sunday before thewedding. They flew in before the
three-day storm and arrived at Mom
Karen’s in Bayfield. The Thursday
night after the storm was when wife
Chrissy and son Brycen and Neil
McDonald flew into London and
then arrived in Bayfield. Our niece
Kendra and husband Luis arrived
from Calgary into Toronto on
Thursday night, but stayed and had a
visit with friends in Toronto until
coming to the wedding on Saturday.
It was wonderful to have everyone
here and staying until after
Christmas. It will be the first time
since 1997 that all the McDonalds
have been together for Christmas.
Returning from a 10-day trip to
England are Murray and Sherry
McCall. They were there to babysit
the two children of John and Marci
McCall MacBain, Alivia and Indre.
Grandma and Grandpa McCall had a
great time with the grandchildren.
They were spending quality time
with them and getting to know the
newest addition.
It is nice to see Margery Huether
home from Florida for the Christmas
season. Son John Huether picked her
up from London on the weekend and
she will be here for a couple of
weeks.
The family of George and Marie
Blake celebrated Christmas a coupleof Sundays ago at the St. AmbroseCatholic Church hall. They enjoyeda catered meal by Beth Earl for theover 50 attending. The familyenjoyed the afternoon of visiting andsocializing.Welcome to new neighbours on
Moncrieff Road. Bob Smith and Tara
Williams are the new residents on
the former McCall farm.
Christmas parties were held by
many families on the weekend
including the Heibein family. They
gathered at the Walton hall on
Saturday, with nearly 30 members of
Lloyd Heibein’s family attending.
The family enjoyed the whole day at
the Hall having potluck, fun, games
and gifts for the children to keep
them busy.
The Walton hall was then the
venue for the Brindley family
Christmas on Sunday. The nearly 35
attending were the children,
grandchildren and great-
grandchildren of Margaret Brindley.
The group enjoyed a pot luck dinner
around 1:30 and then spent the
afternoon visiting. Karen Hoegy
reports that the little ones anxiously
await the gifts from Grandma
Margaret.
The family of Harold and Pearl
McCallum gathered at Kinburn Hall
on Sunday to enjoy their family
Christmas. Over 40 enjoyed a
potluck meal and a great time
visiting and playing games.
Our condolences to Gloria Wilbee,
Keith, Kevin and Mark on the
passing of her father, Les Hart. Thefuneral was held on Sunday, Dec. 19in Mitchell. Mr. Hart had been abusinessman in Mitchell having agas and snack bar for many years. The family moved to Stratford andthen in later years lived in Seaforth. Our sympathies to Gloria and her
family.
There are still area folks in
hospital and we wish them continued
improvement and a Merry
Christmas. At time of writing,
Seaforth Hospital has Leona
McDonald, Marie McTaggart,
Howard Hackwell and Doreen
Hackwell as patients. We hope that

Members of the Walton Women’s
Institute met at the Walton Inn for
their Christmas meeting. In lieu of a
gift exchange this year it was
decided each member would bring
provisions for the Food Bank.
A “Thinking of You” card was
signed by everyone to be sent to
Leona McDonald who is a patient in
the Seaforth Hospital, and a
Christmas card was sent to Mary
Humphries. Both these ladies are
long-time members of the Walton

Following dinner a brief business
meeting was conducted by President

humourous reading called, The
Christmas Pageant”.
