4-H Pizza Toppers make three unique pizzasBy Ryan BaanThe fourth and fifthmeetings of the Grey
Township 4-H Pizza Toppers
were held at St. Ambrose
Catholic Church in Brussels
on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9
a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The
meeting was called to order
with the 4-H pledge, led by
President Nick Vinnicombe.
They started by splitting
into three groups to make the
dough for three different
kinds of pizza. They made a
chicken barbecue pizza, a
double-crusted pizza pie and
a cold veggie pizza. While
the dough was rising, the
group held the business part
of the meeting. They then
made the rest of the pizzas
and baked them. As they
baked, members played a
game involving kickball andspinning around many times. They then ate the pizzas and
completed a pizza word
search. The meeting closed
with the 4-H motto.
The next meeting was held
on Friday, Nov. 26 at the
home of Joe and Barb
Terpstra. The meeting started
at 6:30 p.m. They went
outside to decorate the horse
buggy for the Brussels Santa
Claus parade. They covered it
in garland, tinsel and lights
and even painted a 4-H sign.
Once that was finished,
they went inside for the
meeting. They started with
the 4-H pledge led by vice-
president Kelsey Rathwell.
They received their awards
and plaques for being a
member of 4-H. They closed
the meeting with the 4-Hmotto, and enjoyed apepperoni pizza, an apple
crumble pizza, and a peanut
butter and chocolate chip
pizza.
The achievement program
for the Grey Township 4-H
Club was held at the Brussels
Santa Claus parade on
Saturday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m.
The Pizza Toppers walked in
the parade alongside the
Christmas decorated horse-
drawn wagon. It was pulledby Joe and Barb Terpstra’sponies. Thank you to them
for letting the club use their
ponies and wagon. The club
walked down the street
carrying empty pizza boxes,
and handing out candy to the
kids.
They finished at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre, marking
the end of another 4-H
project.
