KEITH WILLIAMSON
Keith James Williamson of RR 3,
Walton passed away peacefully on
the evening of Friday, Nov. 5, 2010
at Seaforth Community Hospital
surrounded by the love of his family.
Keith “Silver” was a part of the
fabric of Grey Township. He was
born in Seaforth on Dec. 1, 1949. He
went to public school in the one-
room schoolhouse USS No. 12,
Grey and McKillop until Grade 7,
when it closed and he and his
classmates moved to the new Walton
Public School. He completed high
school at Seaforth District
Secondary School and went to
Ridgetown Agricultural College.
He farmed with his father, Jim
Williamson at Lot 14, Conc. 17,
Grey Township, the farm his great-
grandfather bought as Crown Land
in 1863. In 1976 he bought the farm
from his father.
As a young teen, Keith was in the
Boy Scouts and travelled to the east
coast with them in the centennial
year. He was in Huron County
Junior Farmers and was a past
president. He was involved with
Walton Area Sports Club, Brussels
Fair Board (and a past president) and
the Huron County Farm Safety
Association. He was involved in
many sports including curling,
broomball, slowpitch and darts. He
also refereed broomball.
He worked recently as a crop
inspector for seed production with
the CFIA. Keith married Diane
Eskritt on Aug. 3, 1996 at Duff’s
United Church in Walton. They
shared their life together down the
road from Keith’s home farm for the
past 14 years. He will be dearly
missed by his wife, family, friends
and neighbours.
Keith is survived by his wife
Diane, his mother Erma Williamson
of Brussels; his sisters Arlene van
den Akker and her husband Ben of
Egmondville and June Williamson-
Veitch and her husband Ross of
Listowel; his stepchildren Sandra
Duncan and husband Fred, Dawn
Kristensen and husband Stephen of
Toronto and Ronn Eskritt of Walton;
his step-grandchildren Suzanne
Bouttillier and husband Randall,
Kate Duncan, Alex Duncan and
Emma Kristensen; his brothers-in-
law Leo Caron and wife Carol of
Highgate and Cliff Caron and wife
Wendy of Ridgetown. He was also
loved by his nieces and nephews
Amy van den Akker and her fiancé
Gary Owen of Florida, Brent van
den Akker and his wife Heather of
Woodstock, Amanda Coughlin and
her husband Matthew of London,
Melissa Fussell and her husband
Jody of Baden and Mike
Boneschansker and his wife Nicole
of Listowel and his great-nieces and
nephews Logan, Avery and Hunter
van den Akker and Korbin and
Amberle Coughlin. He was
predeceased by his father James
Williamson.
Friends were received by the
family from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m.
on Monday at the Schimanski
Family Funeral Home. The funeral
service was conducted from Melville
Presbyterian Church on Tuesday,
Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. Mr. Sam Moore of
Community of Christ, Stratford and
Rev. Peter Kugba-Nyande of Duff’s
United Church, Walton officiated.
Remembrances of Keith were given
by his sisters Arlene and June.
Interment was at Brussels
Cemetery. Carrying floral tributes
were Amy van den Akker, Amanda
Coughlin, and Melissa Fussell.
Pallbearers were Ross Veitch, Mike
Boneschankser, Ben van den Akker,
Brent van den Akker, Ronn Eskritt,
Murray Houston and Brad Speiran.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to the
charity of one’s choice.
