The Citizen, 2010-02-18, Page 19The interpretative panels for the
Tiger Dunlop Tomb outside
Goderich are ready to be installed as
soon weather permits.
Goderich councillor Deb
Shewfelt, on behalf of an interested
ratepayer, asked about the panels at
the Feb. 3 meeting of county
council.
Director of cultural services Beth
Ross explained that the panels and
gate had been completed last
year late in the season, so the
decision was made to wait until this
spring.
She expressed satisfaction in the
finished product saying she was
“quite pleased” with the panels.
Ross added that a researcher usedin the project had found a colourportrait of Tiger Dunlop which they
got permission to use on the panel.
The timing for the installation is
right, she said, because the theme for
this year’s Doors Open in Huron is
the Canada Company. “This was on
the tour the last time, but I suspect it
will be on again because of the
theme and we will have the panels in
place.”
Shewfelt had also mentioned tree
trimming at the site. Ross said that if
there was money left in the budget
after the installation that work would
be completed as well.
As suggested by councillor Jim
Fergusson of Bluewater there will be
an official unveiling when the work
is done.

Build it!
It wasn’t all fun and games last weekend at the Brussels
winter carnival, there was work to be done, like building a
snow fort. The young architects were building while road
hockey, snow pitch softball and snow volleyball went on
around them just outside of the Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre. (Shawn Loughlin photo)

A helping hand
The toilet bowl races were a big hit last weekend at North
Huron’s Luge-a-thon, held in Blyth, Belgrave and Wingham.
The toilet bowl races were held in Belgrave this year, with
several teams taking part and while the object of getting
from one end of the arena to the other may sound easy,
once sitting on the toilet, it becomes much more difficult.
